So, you think Gemini is just a search engine?
Re: So, you think Gemini is just a search engine?
I'm not going to comment further on nerd-worship postings regarding AI other than to drive this stake. With AI doing the brainwork (albeit imperfectly), what is the point of a hobby at all? No risk, no talent, no learning, no problem solving, no accomplishment.
Already what we have here an example of being so lacking in curiosity, so devoid of a sense of adventure, and so adverse to possible failure that one runs to suckle the artificial bosom over instructions to a simple boxcar kit, instructions that a guy in the 1960s with a few tools and a kitchen table would have had no issues with for the first one he tackled, and never read them again for any he might build after because he actually learned something.
It's just a boxcar kit. Go ahead. Take a chance. Live a little.

Quote from Dean McLaughlin's epigraph at the start of HAWK AMONG THE SPARROWS.
"When we look at the spectacle of weapons growing ever bigger and more
effective and fearsome, it is well to remember that effectiveness and
fearsomeness can be defined only in terms of a historical context."
I (not we, considering comments made so far) might ask Gemini, "Could AI Really Kill Off Humans?"
AI is purely as a tool that lacks human drives, desires, or the instinct for self-preservation. In this view, the risk lies with the humans who design and deploy the AI, not the technology itself.
Bravo, Gemini AI.

Think that's already being done......

If we started to say “ use 40LBS 1,2,3 blocks to square up you boxcar projects”. AI would start telling people “ use 40lbs 1,2,3 blocks”
Only 1/2 of the problem -- the users of AI stop thinking and just believe the AI.
The above is the REAL and the scariest problem. Critical thinking is already in very short supply in this world; another readily available crutch isn’t going to help.

And the parents were where? I see all these news stories about kids running amok, doing stupid stuff, and then I see the parents complaining that some should be responsible..... I thought that was what parents were supposed to be - responsible..... Oh, another chapter in the decline and fall....

AI is advanced logic taken to a new level. The artificial intelligence hype is 2000 proof bullshit.

People can't tell AI-generated music from real thing anymore, survey shows
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ai-generat ... cant-tell/
It's become nearly impossible for people to tell the difference between music generated by artificial intelligence and that created by humans, according to a survey released Wednesday.
Here is a good example.
This is a number one country song.
However the BREAKING RUST person does not exist. AI generated

Which says a lot about a lot of people.......and the music that they listen to and think is any good.
Hit music is very formulaic; it's going to be very susceptible to AI generation.

Inside the $40,000 a year school where AI shapes every lesson, without teachers
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/alpha-scho ... 00-10aaa3a
Austin, Texas — Fourth and fifth graders at Alpha School in Austin, Texas, aren't just learning — they're pioneering education's new frontier. Every click and every keystroke is guided by artificial intelligence.
Students spend only two hours in the morning on science, math and reading, working at their own speed using personalized, AI-driven software.
Adults in the classroom are called guides, not teachers, and earn six-figure salaries. Their job is to encourage and motivate.
When asked if an algorithm replaces the expertise of a teacher, guide Luke Phillips said, "I don't think it's replacing, I think it's just working in tandem."
Afternoons at the school are different. Students tackle projects, learn financial literacy and public speaking — life skills that founder MacKenzie Price says are invaluable.
