Mexican man: General Villa?? Listen, years ago I rode with Juarez against Emperor Maximilian. I lost many chickens but I thought it was worth it to be free. When Porfirio became President, I supported him - but he stole my chickens. Then came Huerta and he stole my chickens. Then it was Carranza's term, and he took my chickens too. Now Pancho Villa has come to liberate me and the first thing he does is steal my chickens.

Indy: But an army needs food.He wants to help you.

Mexican man: Help me...help me? So does Carranza and all the others. What makes one different from the other? My chickens don't know. All over the world revolutions come and go. Presidents rise and fall. They all steal your chickens. The only thing to change is the name of the man who takes them.

There is a great irony in that the problems that the Russian people have suffered are constant irregardless of who was in charge, be it the Czar (as pictured), the Communists that replaced him, or whomever/whatever came after that. The core problems have been (and probably always will be) the bureaucracy that actually runs the place. An odd counterpoint to this is Italy where the government falls about once a year and the country manages to soldier on in spite of this. Is Italy's bureaucracy somehow better or is it just irrelevant?

Let me offer a more thorough reply to Roy's inquiry about why I also posted a photo of Prince Reza separately:

To me, as an experienced teacher, if I had him in a classroom, I would be paying attention to his expression. I see eyes and a whole being filled with who he sees himself as being, and who he was for his whole family. Also, I can see in his eyes and physical profile that he was conscious of where he was (supposed to be) headed in life, to a place filled with devotion to his family and country, which was a truth for him.

That is the Statement I saw and found to be profoundly evident in the portrait I thought it appropriate to share on a thread with such a title as this one. I was convinced some of you would see it, too, and comment.

New information has come to light, showing how former US President Jimmy Carter blindly accepted false promises and helped Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini carry out the Iranian Revolution.

From 1941 to 1979, Iran was ruled by Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, better known as the Shah (meaning "king"). Pahlavi's modernization and anti-Communist policies won the backing of many Western countries, which saw oil-rich Iran as a valuable ally in a tumultuous region. At the same time, though, his secularism and suppression of political opponents left him strongly disliked domestically.

Pahlavi's regime was ultimately overthrown in the 1979 revolution, led by Ayatollah Sayyid Ruhollah Mūsavi Khomeini.

The BBC now reports that Khomeini had made several overtures to US presidents, asking them to encourage the Iranian military to stand down and allow the uprising to succeed. In exchange, he promised to continue the warm relationship between the two countries.

BTW, two cows won't produce milk for very long unless you have access to a bull or someone that has access to bull semen.

BTBW you forgot about the price supports/subsidies which completely torque the whole supply/demand equation for various insane rationales (aka not just limited to US/"capitalism"). Basically it's not just Indian's that seem to worship/consider cows (and their by products) sacred!

In 1936 Fascist General Franco spearheaded a rebellion against the leftist republican government in Madrid. The uprising in Spain was blessed by the Catholic Church as if it were a holy crusade. The Republicans dragged dead priests and nuns out of their crypts at a convent in Barcelona to show disrespect for the Catholic church taking sides with Franco.

Religious leaders taking sides in the politics of the world is specifically addressed in James 4:4

Franco won but being on the winning side was not all that great for the church. Franco only allowed clergy into the country with his approval. When the Pope sent some bishops to "help" with church affairs in Spain, Franco built a prison just for the "unauthorized" priests.
