Speaking of North Korea...
Re: Speaking of North Korea...
I brought this one back to the top because it is in the news again. I am not sure what has come about because it depends on what is being said by the media that one can believe.
I still don't trust Kim, but who knows maybe he will follow through and come around to joining the rest of the world. ??

My only takeaway is: Trump did something he said he would do. He is one of a few presidents who have gone to NK. The Dems and PBS are lambasting him for not doing more.

Ok, he did not go to NK. He went to Singapore - he is the 1st and only President to meet with a leader of NK. And, that's a very good achievement.
I don't know what if anything else this really means to the US. It's an agreement with no timetable and no verification from a country that has reneged on every agreement that it's made. I think it's almost exactly been 25 years since NK agreed to not pursue nuclear power and that worked out really well, too. I have to wonder if Mattes and the Pentagon had any awareness of their exercises being put on the table in this agreement. However, NK has gotten quite a lot out of this meeting - legitimization on a world stage.

Sorry, absolutely correct and my bad. I must have still been lightheaded from laughing at your other post. How's that for covering up a stupid mistake?

Significant if Un pays any attention. I'm of the belief that Un got a little education about jerking the big dogs' chain with the rhetoric and shootin' those missles over Japan when it was learned that 3 Carrier Battle Groups were on the way to the South China Sea. He had to have seen what happened in Syria when Assad crossed the line with poison gas. His main thing is he wants to stay in power, but I wish the Prez had lowered the time line to significant reduction, like to the end of the year, and not to the end of Trump's term. Still, it was history in the making. If they can negotiate and then verify, it's all good. As for the War Games, the regular training will continue between US and ROK units, only the war games twice a year went off the table, and BTW, that's not cut in stone.
If you agree with the Progressives, it's freedom of speech. If you disagree, it's hate speech. There are no alternatives.

I find the "relationship" (5 visits so far?) between Dennis Rodman and the NK leader to be intriguing. I am surprised the Media hasn't made more of it, or paid more attention to it. Yet, perhaps, what we have been told is more than enough, to date. Seeing Mr. Rodman get emotionally moved yesterday, in the News, made me wonder even further, in particular, about his motivation and Jong-Un's interest.

Mr Rodman has stated that he and Trump are good friends and have been for quite some time. That doesn't sit to well with the liberal media. It does appear that Kim Jong-un likes Mr Rodman along with all the media attention he is getting. Maybe Kim will invite Rodman back and play some more basketball. Maybe Rodman can take all the NBA players that won't go to the White House with him.
This meeting that took place is just one baby step. There is a long way to go. But if this has De-escalated the situation that is good for all of us.

A journey of a 1000 miles starts with the first step. Now for the spiritual side of this forum. The lord gave the king an ability to change his heart with his own hand.

Maybe that single hand is pointed heavenward in prayer.
Re: Speaking of North Korea...
Mention was made earlier of the U.S. pulling out of joint military exercises with South Korea.
Also remember that if the president gets riled he does/has change his mind.

I suspect it is giving up the finger accompanied by peals of derisive laughter due to the never ending ability of humanity to frell things up.....

An interesting perspective. Mitch. I'll keep it in mind as we continue to follow the proceedings.
