Tramp,

I was just there trying to figure out what Andre was talking about. In military lingo, "mullet" is a star. I don't think that is it.

I'll go back and look at the mullet sites I found.

Happy Labor Day everyone.

How old is the mullet? Answer: 4500 years.

The mullet began making appearances in the popular media in the 1960s (Welsh pop singer Tom Jones sported one) and 1970s but did not catch on with the general populace until the early 1980s. It continued to be popular until the early 1990s and has enjoyed a partial return to favor as a retro look in the 2000s.

Tramp wrote:Wayne, can you find out when the mullet became popular? I used to cut my own hair by feel over a paper bag for easier clean up. I ignored the back, so I ended up with a mullet. This was in the very early 1980s. I'm wondering if I was one of the first to sport the mullet. Photos are available but can only be viewed at a price.

I think it was Joe Dirt (the movie) who marked its appearance and demise - slide into obscurity, though a few still sport around.
You can't tell us you have photos then not show us! That would be taunting! (Hey, there are pictures of me w/ long hair [don't tell Hev or Dirt, and certainly not HighrailJon!], even teachng school that way, in the very early 70's, though I've tried to track them all down and destroy them. )

Public Service Announcement

Hey, hobos, you all know what it's like to be outdoors in late summer- freakin' gnats everywhere, flying in a large swarm around your head, getting in your eyes, getting in your ears, and driving you to madness if not driving you indoors.

Well, It's Labor Day, so the redhead thought I ought to do some labor, so I was painting the shed behind the homestead, and sure enough, a jumbo halo of gnats.

My glasses generally keep them away from my eyes, but they were landing on my ears, and biting, and causing massive distraction.

So I went indoors to hatch a great plan, and spotted this common household item, found in ample supply in any married household.

Voila! Worked like a charm!

I had a thought to try and patent this, with the goal of making a huge fortune, but being an altruistic kind of guy, decided to think of all my grand fellow hobos and of their well-being.

These come in an enormous range of colors, and both insulated for cold weather, or aerated for warm weather.

So forthwith, a picture of my monumental invention.

I think it will hit really BIG!!

Pete!!!! LMFAO!!!!!!!!

My latest home defense project is coming together. I opted out on the 590SPX and went with the 590A1 heavy barreled, 9 round, parkerized model. I've added a Mesa Tactical Low Profile Adaptor with pistol grip and Command Arms six position stock. I'm waiting on the arrival of an Aim Pro heat shield, Hogue grips, a Command Arms fore-grip w/triple rail and I think I'll be happy!

Regarding your halo (my suggested name for your invention,) first of all, congratulations on your cup size. Secondly, your choice of "skin-tone" is marvelous - we wouldn't want you to inroduce your new idea w/ anything gawdy or in bad taste, of course. Thirdly, the fact that you want to share such a photo of yourself w/ the known-world is brave and worthy of the Depraved Indifference Award. But most of all, I bestow upon you the MTJ Good-ole-guy Award for capturing exactly right the true spirit of dementia this forum has come to be known for. You have stepped forward and repesented all of us with a sense of humor to the max.

It was another great day yesterday out at my place in PA as well...

If you strain your eyes a bit, you can see the Amish buggy down on the road.

Battery died on my F-cub after 6 years now, so I need to track down a new 6 volt, :(

So, I will now partake of a new brew, "Black Toad", a product of Chicago, or so the bottle reads...

Rufus, I haven't ran across any Black Toad down this way, but it gets a "B" rating from the Beer Advocate:

Hev, how're gonna cook them?

Pete, does K know about that photo? I suppose so because who else took it?
