We make such decisions all the time, don't we.

We execute the mission of our professional, working lives, doing what has to be done, adding our part to civilization and earning an income. Life is expensive.

At other times, we need quiet, re-energizing moments by/to ourselves, being creative or taking solitary walks, for example.

Sometimes, we can revel in the company of others. I can recall one such significant event, for me, when I made the effort to travel into Pennsylvania to meet Pete (the Dirt) and Mitch, and Hev, in-person. I am so glad (then and now) that I did. I made a couple of those rejuvenating visits tothe Tractor Pull, quite outside my customary haunts, but well-worth the new experience = adventure - and new camaraderie.)

We need a mixture and a blending of it all. (My wife is calling me, right now, so I gotta run....) Murph

Seems like it's time for a weekend in the woods, fire in the fireplace, cold drinks, good snacks, and books to read by the radio....

And on that happy note, we have this sign to share:

...and thus we have a civilization worth defending and supporting.
And how far is that away from, I ask you, hearing Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini (now playing on my i-phone.)

That, sir, sums it all up, IMHO. :D

Now there's a practical and practicing entrepreneur - keep the kids happy and have fun yourself, sport!

Who started Valentine's Day, anyolways, the greeting-card companies, as I've heard legend, or were the candy companies part of that li'l conference, too?
P.S. Plus, the fur companies, jewelry stores, car manufacturers, and...

OK. So where? What did the Saint have to do with it? Yeah, I know I could look it up but Rufus seems to know something.

Only that I seem to recall reading of it being celebrated in some form in books and stories that pre-date Hallmark,

Oh well, what does it matter. At least, we are not being expected to celebrate a Saint Hateful's Day, or something worse (but if you walk around Manhattan, esp. at night, it can seem, at times, as though some occasion pretty darn close to a St. Hedonist Day is being paid hommage, not that such activity is unique to NYC, not by any means. ) Eh ? Huh? Wha'? (Not a criticism; just a description. )

I think ancient Rome and Greece tried that, and where did that take them?

It probably took them to this point. After seeing this on the beach I had to snap this photo
