Is it too cold for hobos tonight? I got the fire roaring like a drunk bear.

Pete, Long only beats one thing. We got to send him a BMW to drive. They're used to the cold.

BMW? A porcupine with the pricks on the inside? Tramp, you've been picking on me a lot lately. What did I ever do to you? Is it something I said? I'm starting to get angry about this.

Clouser, Wow! She's a beauty with those giant drivers and that long tender! Thanks for sharing.

Last night I learned that the hobo camp has had a few famous visitors that traveled though at one time or another. One being Jack London and the boxer Jack Dempsey!! Both former hobos who made their mark in history. I learned of this while watching a PBS documentary on the boxer Jack Johnson.

http://home.swipnet.se/roland/dempsey.html

"In the ring, he was a tiger without mercy who shuffled forward in a bobbing crouch, humming a barely audible tune and punching to the rhythm of the song," wrote Pulitzer Prize winner Red Smith. "He was 187 pounds of unbridled violence. This isn't big by heavyweight standards, yet in the judgment of some, this black-browed product of Western mining camps and hobo jungles was the best of all pugilists."

...
Legend has it that Dempsey became a hobo, but he actually was an itinerant laborer who rode the freights and camped by the wayside on his way to temporary work. Digging ditches, picking peaches, cutting timber and being a circus roustabout were among his jobs. Whenever he could, he fought in local clubs in Colorado, Utah and Nevada, using the name "Kid Blackie" or "Young Dempsey."

I'll look for repeats of the PBS documentary, Jon. It sounds great.

San, what made it nice was that back then the railroad was the prime means of inexpensive transportation, so there was plenty of vintage film clips of railroading. Also was mentioned the fact that Jack Johnson on his climb to fame would often hold boxing matches with railroad workers and especially the tough gandy dancers.

Long. BMW is a big Maine woman. As far as your other problem, I suggest you might talk to Dennis. Maybe he can help you? Seems these complexes arise from time to time.

Jack London wrote a hoboing book called The Road.

Jon, I see those things flying over my house every day. They are pretty cool. I wish one would drop a ton of C-4. That would be real cool.

Tramp there are none of those kinds of BMW's around here. Just BWW (Big Wisconsin Women). I have no complex. I play with simple trains, drink simple beer, and drive a simple truck.

Tramp, I tried to return your email and it bounced back "User unknown". The answer is of course not. LOL.

Jon, that's a nice truck. You took good care of it all these years. I wonder if GM ECM modules would make MTH PS-1 engines run.

Long, at least there are a few of us left. We're almost extinct. Remember that next you get blown off a bar stool by a young BWW in a halter top.

Tramp, what does that mean - a few of you left? A few what? Middle-aged men? Middle-aged men that play with trains? Middle-aged men that still have their their eyesight and hearing? Middle-aged men that drink beer? Maybe as a woman, I should come up with my own acronym for the unattractive opposite sex. How about SAAB - Self-Absorbed Appalling ******?

I'm joking, so don't get your briefs in a bunch.

By the way, I did not post stars for the last word - the software program running this show did it for me. Who knew that ****** was a bad word? Test word - bitch. Now we'll see...AHA! Gender bias on on MTJ Forum! $%^&*@$ !
