Damn, I didn't know it was Pete's birthday. I think he's got a year on me, so I guess I can say Happy Birthday, you old fart!

80 degrees today, 22% humidity, breeze at 12 mph.

'Bout a week now, local farmers have been turning over the dirt.

The Dirt turns one over today too.

The Dirt ain't 'turning over', though. Not yet, anyway. Another decade and a year, I'll be satisfied.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. Wish we could all meet at the Mountain Spring Inn, hoist some liquid Gold, and laugh our everlovin' asses off.

Races tonight! Our first of the season. Simple pleasures for simple folk.

After my boys baseball practice he got together with his friends and played wanted to play "soldier". They charged hills, right flanked, spotted, and sniped.
It's good to know in parts of this country a desire to learn and uphold the "fundamental principle"s of freedom still exist.

Jon, another in a classic series of photos from Mississippi!

Don't ya just re-live your youth in your kids? We were out in the thick of the afternoon playing a family baseball game with a tennis ball.

I remember lusting for a Daisy Red Ryder, (Tramp just lusting for a Daisy), and never got one, but a pop-gun was just as good, as well as pistols in holsters.

I don't what that kid on the right is 'packing', but I sure wouldn't want to be on the business end of THAT puppy!! :D

So now I should remember April 19th not only as me and the missez' anniversary, but Petey's birthday, too.

Hell, I just woke up. We went out to the Texas Roadhouse for dinner, after which I came home and promptly crashed for 3 1/2 hours! Snore! Well, hey, you know, if you've done it once, you've done it 50 times in 33 years!

Nah. They just get all dolled up. A 3rd grade thing. Both boys did it in turn, both went as Jack Dawson. Then some old bat comes in from one of the local boarding homes, puts on the dog with a fake British accent, and tells the kids that proper ladies in the day would NEVER drink sodas out of bottles.
The kids love it. Getting duded-up, that is. She must have had that get-up on 4 times in the days preceding, working out all the details.

Leah is most definitely more 'Molly Brown' personality, rather than a 'Rose'.

So I was 16 when you got married?

Hev, thanks bro! Another year older and deeper in debt!

Again, my thanks to everyone.
A special thanks to Daisy, who said some very nice things to which I now hope to live up!

Hev and Mitch, you truck-drivers can edify me.

After 42 years of driving, and seeing too-numerous-to-count pieces of broken tires strewn across highways, I finally saw one let-go in person. Luckily, it happened on the other side of a divided highway, but it was quite violent, with some serious smoke, pieces flying in all directions, and a huge chunk going up some three stories in the air. Had he been going under a bridge, that piece would have gone onto or over it.

This tire exploded. It wasn't just a retread peeling off, as I had always imagined.

You guys ever have this happen to you?
