When you asked about it, I googled, "Garcia y Vega tobacco blend." I found out more than I wanted to know, but nothing about Connecticut tobacco in Garcia Vega cigars.
How about if I change that to, "I like mild domestic cigars like Garcia Vega."

Wayne, All I could find was this: Don't confuse this cigar with the cheap, machine-made American cigar made by Garcia Vega.
There's so much bull about cigars. One afternoon, years ago, I brought a few cigars into my local bar and gave them (I pretended to be VERY reluctant to give them up) to the cigar experts in the room. What I'd done was buy the cheapest vilest cigars I could find, however, I slid on Avo XO bands. The XOs were new at the time but everyone knew Avo was a five to ten dollar cigar. I'm sure you can guess the result. I never let on.

They are cheap alright. Local smoke shop price for Garcia Vega Barons ($29.99 for 50) is $0.60 each. In 1950 dollars that would be $0.07. When I was in the army I got hooked on those things. (I think they were made in Tampa, FL back then.) After discharge I quit smoking.

My dilemma. Tonight is my wife's companies fancy dinner party. At first thought you'd think any self-respecting hobo would jump at the chance to be wined and dined for free. But after the last one I'm cringing. Should I suck it up and go promising not to kill anyone or should I accidentally slash a major artery and tell her to go on without me?

Jon, there may be only 2 ways of gettin' out of these things. You've already hit upon the first. The other would be to go, get drunk and belligerent, create a huge gaff that embarrasses your wife totally, then she will ask you to stay home from then on. Trust me on this, I speak with authority.
