I have the powdered gear dust syndrome in both opener enclosures, so ordered the $20.95 41A2817 Drive/Worm Gear Kits. I'll probably kill a Saturday and end up doing it twice, but like The Dirt I am a stuborn old 'bo. I'll probably save the original parts for no good reason as well.

Wayne, simultaneous failures of Liftmaster openers is a cosmic event.

I hadn't thought of Zano Brothers on the trains. Maybe not the NYC, but those aluminum sided Santa Fe's could use a polish.

San, It was about a 40 minute job from start to finish. Just slather the grease that comes with the new gear assembly all over the gears. The repair guy told it would last a lifetime afterwards. Also while your up there check the slack/tension on your chain and give it a good greasing with a spray lube. It really made a difference on mine. If you run into any trouble give me a call. Also don't do it on a weekend! Do it while the wife is at work, then tell her it cost $638.00 and go get another Standard Guage!!!! :D :D

Jon,

I ended up ordering the 41A2817 Drive/Worm Gear Kits, as they seem to be one size fits all.

The gear and sprocket assemblies

seem to be very model specific.

I'll be deuced if I can figure out if I have an ATS 211, 211X, or some other damn thing. So it looks as if some disassembly/assembly will be required.

San, Thats the kit. I forgot, the reason you have to re-tighten the chain is because you need to loosen it to get it off that top sprocket!

Yours must have been manufactured six months before San's.

Not to change the subject,,,,,but I will,,,,,,,Jon?,,I'm readdy for that beer now!
I'll get the next round!!!

Actually,,pretty tough day at work today.
Went to the funeral of one of the mechanics that worked for me,,,he was a good man,,cancer,,,had to go through his personal affects at the plant to send to his home,,was very painful for me.
He had just turned 60 and was looking foward to retiring and playing some golf and doing some hunting and fishing.
We take so much for granted from day to day,,,,I find it good to find a quiet place when I can ,,and just count my blessings,,,hug the kids more than I usually do,, and try not to sweat the small stuff with my wife.
Sometimes a guy needs a good perspective, and I tend to get caught up in day to day crap pretty easely!

I have some Makers Mark in the freezer,,,,I just may break it out and pass it around the camp here,,,ya know!,,,,maybe it's time huh?

Penn, Sorry for the loss of your friend. It's things like that that make us stop and reflect. Give me twenty minutes and I'll take you up on the beer and shot.

Penn, nicely said. Your friend would be proud to hear it. When a death gives life, it's what it should be, what it was lived for.
That a life will be spent gaining inches,
When this distance is read in miles.
