Tramp!!
I can remember the first time my dumb *** finally passed my drivers exam and off I went with my Mom's station wagon('67 Chevy Nomad)to pick up my girl. We found a dirt road that ended perpendicular to a set of tracks, jumped in the back and just as things got cookin' there was the rumble and horn blaring of that damn diesel rolling by with the engineer just a grinning!!!
Here's the Shay. It has a few quirks which I hope work out as it breaks in.

Ain't that pretty. A couple more shots if you can!

He probably grinned for the whole day.

'67 Nomad? Damn, were you lucky. You know I drive a '66 Impala, right?

Tramp, I do remember reading a post of yours that you drive an old wagon loaded down with 4 cases of Canook beer on vacations to Vermont or something, but I was unaware as to the vintage quality of the particular vehicle!! Do we not have luck with women and tastes in rides or what!! :D  :D
Ask and ye shall recieve. And I'm tired of train manufacturers portraying Shays has only performed "logging duties"!! They were used for everything!!(except passenger service), but I'll post some pixs of mine pulling the Santa Fe streamliners around, why be normal?

Jon, great shots once again. Thanks! How's the sound on that puppy? I have no idea what a Shay whistle sounds like. Kind of raw and high-pitched maybe?

Tramp, the chuffing sounds are incredible, but I'm having a problem programing the "chuff rate" to my liking. I've got a call into K-lines technician who is going to contact an engineer, and get back with me. I'm very satisfied with the "chuff rate" in "cruise control" mode, but if a feature is advertised, I believe it should work. The whistle is quite vulgar and never having heard a real Shay before can't vouch for its authenticity. My first one was exchanged because of a horrible speaker vibration, but this engine is so unique , I'm gonna give it another shot. Cross me fingers, maty!!!! :D

The Berk is back on the shelf. I'm pretty certain it will work this time, but there's always the worry because it sucks when they don't. I'm eyeing that new 3rd Rail Burlington Hudson. I'm still kicking myself that I didn't pick up the eBay 3rd Rail Hudson NY CEntral for 430 bucks. That was a deal.

I take it the Southern Iron & Equipment Company is moving cauldrons of molten scrapple to a suitable market place.

Moving to another topic, why do they call them "Station Wagons"?

Were they designed to frequent train stations?

Jon,

Betcha the owner of that supurb ride has no trouble with tailgating Eurotrash or latte sluping yupsters in front of him (or her).

Jon, you have no idea!!! Nothing like these station wagons to bring me running back home though. I haven't had the pleasure of riding in one myself - yet. A ride in The Caprice Estate has always been a goal of mine.

Friday! And we ain't dead yet. Imagine that. Jon, you got me using all these !!!!, and I took the pledge.

Daisy, I believe you should raise the bar in your quest and settle for nothing less than a Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon

It's absolutely decadent, isn't it?
