I'm not claiming to understand how this world works.
I most certainly cannot fathom what we're doing in Iraq.
It was Bin-Laden who brought down the Towers. We went into Afghanistan to clean out him, the Taliban, and Al-Qaeda, worthy objectives, all. If we were going to invade another sovereign country, why the hell didn't we send the whole damn Armed Forces into Pakistan to finish business, and squash their moral victory?
I just don't get it.
It's the politicians that have F-ed everything up.

That said, me and my family want to express our support of the men on the ground. They didn't ask for this, but they respond without hesitation. Their bravery and commitment is incomparable and unquestionable.

In honor of Veterans Day, I'd like to take the opportunity to introduce you'all to my Great-great-great Grandfather. Charles Franklin. Served 4 years in the civil war with the 1st New Hampshire Volunteer Cavalry. Check out some of his "shady" service!! An outlaw at heart.

LOL, Chief!!! Desertion, caught in civilian clothes in Washington,DC with 500.00 cash in his pocket! DC at that time during the civil war had the largest "red light" district of ANY other city. Hmmmm. Wonder what was on the ol' boy's mind? But, all charges were dropped due to "good soldiering" and after his 4 years of enlistment were up, he was honorably discharged with a 20.00 a month pension, and a plot in the Brooklynn, N.Y. Veterans Cemetery.

Well Dirt, I've had a cousin and a nephew in Iraq, and both have come back saying,,,they get it! They know why we're there!
I believe,,,if you want to pissed at someone?,,,,Be pissed at the media that doesn't tell the whole story and want nothing more than to tear down the American fiber,,,,along with there BS news stories they have sitcoms now that aren't fit for a family to sit and watch! and a whole bunch of fairy tale BS shows that put a message into folks heads that bad behavior should be accepted and not punished!
During the time we (America) and the other allied countries were playing "grab ***" with the United nations, Sadam was busy sending what was left of his arsonal of goodies he had to other sympathetic countries.
I saw the data of this becouse I was in a "Demilitarizing" project myself, the concern was if these other countries would hang on to the goods or sell it on the black market,,,,,,Don't know how that came out but I do know it's still out there somewhere!
Anyhow,,,,most Democrats and Republicans have forgotten this little speech that was brought to the media too! Imagin this! if it was broadcast on national TV today what the good people of the US would think!

Tramp, Artistic question for you. Relief detail. On most steam engines they're black. So it's not much of a "give me". but on lighter colored engines the relief detail between riveted and banded parts seems to be lacking. For the un-artistic among us, I'm not referring to "weathering" but shadows between plates. How would you tackle this?

An armed service member never requests a war. They just go and it is their pride to do so anywhere, anytime, any place for any reason. It is only the civilians that screw things up during a war mostly in how they make the peace.

My father served in the forgotten war. Thanks dad you did what the country asked and never doubted your mission. While others called it a police action you understood your duty and you are my hero. You once told me to never turn my back on the mission and degrade the troops during battle. There is time to do that when it is over.

My father age 18 was surrounded for two weeks of intense fight for some unnamed hill in North Korea. He was one of the lucky ones he made it to be a grandfather. Unfortunately we do not know much about his two years during the war. I honor him and all troops by standing firm and not letting them down by giving the enemy hope talking out about an ongoing war.
