Dirt man...............looky what I picked up this week...................................... :wink:

Check out the Hercules hit and miss engine on the trailer. That engine was set up across from my display. Bill told me they used his engine for the picture on the trailer. He was really thrilled about that....................................... :o :o :)

Hey that's cool Hev. Nice graphics.

I lived in Iowa for a few years as a teenager. I remember my best friend taking me to "The Old Thresher's Reunion" which was pretty bizarre for a New England girl. But we had so much fun there it was one of my favorite days of my life. I remember this old guy hawking his goods in the mud saying, "Come n'get yer dill pickle on a stick - eat the pickle, pick yer teeth with th' stick when yer dun!" Sent us into histerics. Of course we had to have them.

I still have no idea what a thresher even does.


ps. to dirt: tramp clued me in, we both missed his joke about it on the last page, check it out. i thought he was just rambling nonsensically.

It was a simple machine but important. It separated the grain from stalks and husks. Prior to this people would have to throw it in the air and let the wind separate the grain from the stalks and husks. The grain was heavier and would fall to the ground while the wind carried away the stalk and husk.

Hey, Reno, did you make it to that last soccer game up at Laube Hall a week or so back? Just wonderin' if you saw a little guy wearin' an Island 10 hat and a brown T-shirt that said "There's something hot under here"? Had a racecar covered up on it with a red cover? Dodge Motorsports? Well, I believe you R about what the thresher does and I'm so happy to finally know. But did people really throw the corn all up in the air before and let the wind separate it? That just seems too beautiful to be true. But some of the most beautiful things are real. ---- but is that one?

Andre! Congratulations! I know that feeling since I lived down there for 10 years. I used to say The Hammer's Off - always seemed to happen in St. Petersburg the middle weedend of October. So drink up and cheers!

ps. it's SO funny you would write that exactly tonight since I was just telling Tramp today that how I like it perfectly is 70 degrees and 50% humidity. I really was! Exactly that! (although it's fine with me colder. i just love the humidity at least that high)

A thresher is for small grains. Corn is considered a large grain and picked a little differently.

Mitch I can't say I saw someone looking like that. :) Yes I was there it has been a long time since I was up on top of the hill. I was over near the fence about in the middle of the field. There was a guy being me with a brown hat though.
