Yea, a bunch of us would hop on the local freight into Lancaster from New Holland when we wanted to see a movie in town. Got caught a few times but it was no big deal. The guys that ran the local got use too seeing us and stopped the train so we could git on. They said they didn't want us to get hurt trying to jump on the boxcars or caboose.

Shit, could you see them doing that today..............................

Belle réécriture Tramp. Vous êtes un artiste vrai des mots. Avez-vous jamais écrit en français ?

Tramp, your rewrite is a beautiful piece of writing, the original an incredible experience. Either way, you are a true artist of words.

Not since UP took over SP in this area of the country. I used to be able to have friendly talks with SP crews. Now they are so afraid that I am approaching because they have done something wrong that I have to convince them that I am only a train nut before they will talk.

Even the SP Police were friendly. Once I asked two of them if I could have a piece of rail left over after a repair at an accident scene. They told me that they had something to do at the other end of the wreck and walked out of sight.

UP is very inflexible. They spend big bucks on track maintenance in Tucson, so have not had any wrecks yet. When doing track maintenance they post employees at likely access points to keep the public away. They have put up locked gates on maintenance roads that run along the tracks and posted "No Trespassing" signs everywhere.

Yeah, times have changed.

I'm betting you still have your varsity letters, medals, and all.

Pete, My mother has the letters and pins in an envelope tucked away somewhere at her house. I never desired owning a varsity jacket or a school ring.

I graduated a D+ with honors. I could kick all the football players asses that's why they wouldn't let me on the team.

Hev, LMFAO!!!!!!!     That's certainly you, Bro!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D 8)

Beer? Beer, here. Beer and then some beer.

Anyone on board tonight? Another patient is revived, sealed, and hung. Another lies on the table, deglazed, oiled, awaiting recovery.
That a life will be spent gaining inches,
When this distance is read in miles.

A NY man retired. He wanted to use his retirement money wisely, so it would last, and decided to buy a home and a few acres in Portugal. The modest farmhouse had been vacant for 15yrs. The owner and wife both had died, and there were no heirs. The house was sold to pay taxes. There had been several lookers, but the large barn had steel doors, and they had been welded shut. Nobody wanted to go to the extra expense to see what was in the barn, and it wasn't complimentary to the property anyway......so, nobody made an offer on the place..

The NY guy bought it at just over half of the property's worth, moved in, and set about to tear in to the barn........curiosity was killing him. So, he and his wife bought a generator, and a couple of grinders.......and cut thru the welds.

What was in the barn...............?

Next time you think your hotel bill is too high, you might want to consider
this...A husband and wife are traveling by car from Key West to Boston. After
almost twenty-four hours on the road, they're too tired to continue, and they
decide to stop for a rest.

They stop at a nice hotel and take a room, but they only plan to sleep for
four hours and then get back on the road. When they check out four hours
later, the desk clerk hands them a bill for $350.00.

The man explodes and demands to know why the charge is so high. He tells the
clerk although it's a nice hotel; the rooms certainly aren't worth $350.00.
When the clerk tells him $350.00 is the standard rate, the man insists on
speaking to the Manager.

The Manager appears, listens to the man, and then explains that the hotel
has an Olympic-sized pool and a huge conference center that were available
for the husband and wife to use. "But we didn't use them," the man
complains. "Well, they are here, and you could have," explains the Manager.

He goes on to explain they could have taken in one of the shows for which
the hotel is famous."The best entertainers from New York, Hollywood and Las
Vegas perform here," the Manager says. "But we didn't go to any of those
shows, "complains the man again.

"Well, we have them, and you could have," the Manager replies. No matter
what amenity the Manager mentions, the man replies," But we didn't use
it! "The Manager is unmoved, and eventually the man gives up and agrees to
pay.

He writes a check and gives it to the Manager. The Manager is surprised when
he looks at the check. "But Sir," he says, this check is only made out for
$50.00." "That's correct," says the man." I charged you $300.00 for sleeping
with my wife."

"But I didn't!" exclaims the Manager.

"Well, too bad," the man replies." She was here and you could have."

Another Beer please

Kurt

No Daisy, he's going to keep us in suspense again. About a month ago when we were doing the brake diagnostics on the Chevy, in a later post he said he'd found the leak, but never told me where it was. I asked about it later, and he either didn't see my post or he ignored it.

If I remember the phone conversation, I think Tramp said the drip was coming from the master cylinder itself. I'm still waiting for Tramp to post some layout photos now that the track is layed down!!!!
Shots for the house!!!!!!!!! :D
