Tramp,

"And there at the end of the bridge..."

Absolutely fascinating. You put a dream to words in such a way that you took me there. I wonder, if I had never been to those little stand-at-the-counter restaurants floating on piers above the water, I would have the same experience when reading?

Also fascinating is the sentence structure. Your English Teacher would flunk you for writing like that, and yet, if it were fixed for proper sentence structure, the dream would be lost. You have a rare gift for word images (and now a word dream.) Thank you for blessing us with it again.

Tramp,

I agree with Wayne. Those English teachers woukd have you change an

evocative piece into a very correct but boring passage.I have never been to

this place but had no problem with picturing it.Of course,my picture may be

a little diffefent from Wayne's,but we would both recognize it.

Your writing reminds me of some of the "beat"writers [whom I liked].

Jon,

Don't ask. It seems to have become illegal recently.

Jon,
My favorite part of school was like yours.Back in the dark ages when I was in

school,we had to wait until after school for the good stuff. But I got bored just

thinking about girls and booze when I couldn't partake of either. So I did pay

a little attention in class.I don't use a lot of that stuff like sentence structure

any more but you also know about it and alot of other things also.

Roger, Jon,

I know what you guys mean, the interesting things happened outside of class. In class we were allowed "poetic license" in certain cases but it was all too structured. Tramp takes writing into the next dimension. His last lettre missive transcends structure and operates in the deeper realms of the brain. It is much like Transcendental Meditation® , exept you are letting unbounded pure consciousness into your mind rather than watching it come out.

Just noticed your down Hev, take care and get well fast. I often wonder what all those English teachers must think about all this Text Messaging stuff.

Oh on second thought they just might develop rules and take the fun out of texting.

wotU tlkN bout? en tchaz lov txt lingo u nuthead.

Wayne, what a great thing to write about that paragraph Tramp wrote in his dream. It really does seem like the referse breeze of meditative consiousness. Of course, so do most things coming from him. Actually so does he himself. Sometimes when I'm in the grocery store and I turn around to say something to him but he's gone, a flash tears through my mind that I actually made him up, that he doesn't actually exist and I'm completely insane living alone in this fantasy in my mind thinking he exists and am just now realizing it. Then I find him in the beer aisle with a whole other cart loading it with cases of LaBatts and thank dear Gog in Heaven everything's back to the fantasy again.

Oh, he's real, allright.
Either that, or I have a collection of glorious fakes.

And...

'Laurie Sadly Listening'

Laurie if you're sadly listening
The birds are on fire The sky glistening
While I atop my roof stand watching
Staring into the spider's clypeus
Incinerated flesh repelling
While I am on the rooftop yearning
Thinking of you

Laurie if you're sadly listening
Selfishly I miss your missing
The boundaties of our world now changing
The air is filled with someone's sick reasons
And I had thought a beautiful season was
Upon us

Laurie if you're sadly listening
The phones don't work
The bird's afire
The smoke curls black
I'm on the rooftop
Liberty to my right still standing
Laurie evil's gaunt desire is
Upon we

Laurie if you're sadly listening
Know one thing above all others
You were all I really thought of
As the TV blared the screaming
The deathlike snowflakes
Sirens screaming
All I wished was you to be holding
Bodies frozen in time jumping
Bird's afire
One thing me thinking
Laurie if you're sadly listening
Love you
Laurie if you're sadly listening
Love you

Nothing Man

I don't remember how I felt
I never thought I'd live
To read about myself
In my hometown paper
How my brave young life
Was forever changed
In a misty cloud
of pink vapor

Darlin' give me your kiss
Only understand
I am the Nothing Man

Around here
everybody acts the same
Around here
everybody acts like nothing's changed
Friday night
club meets at Al's Barbecue
The sky is still
the same unbelievable blue

Darlin' give me your kiss
Come and take my hand
I am the Nothing Man

You can call me Joe
Buy me a drink and shake my hand
You want courage
I'll show you courage you can understand
Pearl and silver
Restin' on my night table
It's just me Lord
pray I'm able

Darlin' with this kiss
Say you understand
I am the Nothing Man
I am the Nothing Man

We'll the eagle's been flying slow, and the
flag's been flying low, and a lot of people's
saying that America's fixing to fall. But
speaking just for me and some people from
Tennessee, we got a thing or two to tell
you all. This lady may have stumbled but she
ain't never fell. And if the Russians don't
believe that they can all go straight to hell.
We're gonna put her feet back on the path
of the righteousness and then God bless America
again.

And you never did think that it ever would
happen again. In America, did you? You never
did think that we'd ever get together again.
Well we damn sure fooled you. We're walking
real proud and we're talking real loud again in
America. You never did think that it ever would
happen again.

From the sound up in Long Island out to San
Francisco Bay, and ev'ry thing that's in between
them is our home. And we may have done a little
bit of fighting amongst ourselves, but you outside
people best leave us alone. Cause we'll all stick
together and you can take that to the bank.
That's the cowboys and the hippies and the rebels
and the yanks. You just go and lay your hand on a
Pittsburgh Steeler fan and I think you're gonna
finally understand.

And you never did think that it ever would
happen again. In America, did you? You never
did think that we'd ever get together again.
Well we damn sure fooled you. We're walking
real proud and we're talking real loud again in
America. You never did think that it ever would
happen again.

American girls and american guys
Well always stand up and salute
Well always recognize
When we see old glory flying
Theres a lot of men dead
So we can sleep in peace at night
When we lay down our head

My daddy served in the army
Where he lost his right eye
But he flew a flag out in our yard
Until the day that he died
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me
To grow up and live happy
In the land of the free.

Now this nation that I love
Has fallen under attack
A mighty sucker punch came flyin in
From somewhere in the back
Soon as we could see clearly
Through our big black eye
Man, we lit up your world
Like the 4th of july

Hey uncle sam
Put your name at the top of his list
And the statue of liberty
Started shakin her fist
And the eagle will fly
Man, its gonna be hell
When you hear mother freedom
Start ringin her bell
And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you
Brought to you courtesy of the red white and blue

Justice will be served
And the battle will rage
This big dog will fight
When you rattle his cage
And youll be sorry that you messed with
The u.s. of a.
cause well put a boot in your ***
Its the american way

Hey uncle sam
Put your name at the top of his list
And the statue of liberty
Started shakin her fist
And the eagle will fly
Man, its gonna be hell
When you hear mother freedom
Start ringin her bell
And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you
