Hey Jon, I received the very same card, along with a beautiful PRR tin cup, from the very same Hobo. Thanks a bundle, Pete. Let's do the toast tomorrow evening. I believe!

(Hope it passes muster!)
I believe, too! :D

Here we only have one rule
Never ever let it cool!
Keep it cooking in the pot
Soon we have hot choc-o-laaate!!

"Hobo Christmas"

It’s Christmas in the holler,
And we don’t have a dollar,
But we’ll have ourselves a swaller
Of that good ol’ Christmas ‘shine

Now all we want for Christmas
Is the Law minds it’s own business
And leaves us here to make a batch
of good ol’ Christmas ‘shine

Tramp’s got some mash a-percolatin’
His Mom got the Mason jars a-waitin’
Soon we’ll all be tastin’ on
That good ol’ Christmas ‘shine

Mitch is feelin’ mighty perky
Since he caught our Christmas turkey
He’s yankin’ feathers and getting’ murky
On good ol’ Christmas ‘shine.

Willy’s baying like a coon hound
San's on a stump, singing Motown
Jon punched a big bull-grizzly down
all 'toasted' on Christmas ‘shine

Some say that we’re eccentric
Since we live without electric
But we’re already wired on
This good ol’ Christmas ‘shine

Now there ain’t much to do here
But we’re not feeling blue here
‘cause we’ll be high ‘til New Years
On this good ol’ Christmas ‘shine.

Damn, Pete! Right on a par with Frost, Whitman, and Longfellow. You're chokin' me up on Christmas Cheer.

Gonna be a cold one tonight. I've been tryin' to gather firewood, but I keep fallin' down. :? Gonna be a good time in the camp tonite! 'Wonder if that cup San's holdin' is a genuine PRR?

Fortified by the potency of the new batch of Idaho Gold (TM), gyrating his hips and waving his arms, San warbles out:
Stop! in the name of love
Before you break my heart

Baby, baby
Im aware of where you go
Each time you leave my door
I watch you walk down the street
Knowing your other love youll meet
But this time before you run to her
Leaving me alone and hurt
(think it over) after Ive been good to you ?
(think it over) after Ive been sweet to you ?

Stop! in the name of love
Before you break my heart
Stop! in the name of love
Before you break my heart
Think it over
Think it over

Ive known of your
Your secluded nights
Ive even seen her
Maybe once or twice
But is her sweet expression
Worth more than my love and affection ?
But this time before you leave my arms
And rush of to her charms
(think it over) havent I been good to you ?
(think it over) havent I been sweet to you ?

Stop! in the name of love
Before you break my heart
Stop! in the name of love
Before you break my heart
Think it over
Think it over

Ive tried so hard, hard to be patient
Hoping youd stop this infatuation
But each time you are together
Im so afraid Ill be losing you forever

Stop! in the name of love
Before you break my heart
Stop! in the name of love
Before you break my heart
Stop! in the name of love
Before you break my heart

Baby, think it over
Think it over, baby
Ooh, think it over baby...

Petey, how did you know? 20 years ago, two co-workers and myself showed up for a company halloween party in drag, complete with wigs, airbrushed mahogany skin, nylons, and foo-foo dresses as... The Supremes. We had rented a Jukebox loaded with Motown and pulled off a full floorshow. I was Mary Wilson. Can you believe we were upstaged? The CEO's executive secretary and her sister showed up as the lustiest pair of Doublemint Twins ever known. Our own department secretary came up behind me, planted a wet behind my ear (under the wig) and whispered "this is your fantasy come true; you want to do both of them, don't you?" At that point, standing there in drag, with Barbara's ample bossom pressed into me, and these two nearly naked nymphs parading around with an over sized green pack of gum, my hormones short circuited. I've never quite got it out of my system.

Damn, my shirt needs ironing.

I think I ran into those guys at the still some years ago in eastern Kentucky.Fortunately they recognized me and knew I wasn't a revenooer and I'm still around. They even let me try their 'shine. Good stuff. Even let it age a bit.

San, a wise and humble hobo told me once:
There are no accidents. There are no coincidences.

I'm believing he was onto something!
And I'm proud to call him a friend. 8)
(Even if he looks better than me, in drag!)

Roger, that there be Hev holding the gun.
Sight of a revenooer gives him trigger fever!
If you got past him, then you a good hobo fer sure!
What's ours is yours, bud!

And now I'm just wasting your time, because I wanted to hit a grand! 8)

G'nite boys. Tomorrow is Christmas in Orangeville, as me and the redhead are working on Monday, opposite shifts.

Last year, the kids had us up at 0230! (*groan*) Time to turn in.

Merry Christmas!

Lads, it's so damn warm up here we might as well be in Florida, but what can you do? (Hope Will is holding up.) I've got the King salmon gravlaxed, the fresh oysters waiting, the turkey about dunked in the brine, the fridge full of fresh beer that I had to drive all the way to Rockland for because I wasn't gonna have Christmas without fresh beer.

Cheers to all hobos.
