Hobo Jungle
Tin cups out, let's have a toast to this odd place called the Hobo Jungle. Let us think how many friends it has brought us. Friends. Friends are a good thing. Lads, I'm in my cups. Drink with me, I've crossed the half way mark to the horizon.

Graduated today , the same day as our dearest friend's Birthday!!!!!! Here's a tin cup of ale hoisted at Ya, Tramp!!!!!!!!
Someone needs to explain to me the "schooling" purpose of putting on kevlar "battle-rattle" with a 50 pound rucksack, marching 4 miles into the woods and sleeping in tents with thirty other nasty, sweaty soldiers for 4 days!!!!!!!
Oh well, Home once again with a loving wife and a wonderful son who missed his Dad!!!!!!!

Jon, "Basic Training"....
Tramp, To you on your birthday, tin cup held high,
Glad it's you that's older - not I.....
Happy B-day
Contrary to belief, nobody owes you anything.
Start every day off with a smile and get it over with.

Jon, welcome home. Glad you're back, safe and sound.
Mitch, send me your address.
Did we have a storm blast through here today. Wind, rain, thunder, my quarter-mile lane is torn all to hell. Lots of wind damage in the area. Then, about 7:30 PM, I'm rolling out a crust for a pumpkin pie while I'm watching "Cops", and the power goes out. Our line comes up through a hollow, and every g*ddamn time the wind blows, a tree goes over and pulls down the wires. There's only maybe 4 customers on the line, so we're always freakin' last to get attention from Pa. Power & Light. Every single year I've lived here, we lost power.
So I drive down into the hollow, sure enough there's a tree down. A kid comes walking up from the other direction in the dark to kibbitz, and tells me the third pole further along came down, and the transformer was on fire, and he called 911.
Man, did a light bulb flash on in my head!
I drove around to the other end of the hollow road just as two fire trucks were arriving. Holy Hell, I think to myself, if THAT doesn't get PP&L here a little bit quicker, nothing will!
So we'll see if it works, then the next time a line goes down, I'm gonna be out there first thing with a can of kerosene and a match!
I'm at the in-laws now. Got the pie in the oven. I was by-God going to have this pie tonight if I had to cook it on my cast-iron coal stove!
Tramp, wish you many happy returns of this day. Me and my cowboy father-in-law are raising a late beer in your honor.
Many friends. Many friends indeed. I'm much the richer for you being one of them.
postscript: Kim was just out back looking for lights in the valley, or the sound of chainsaws.
Nothing.
Rat-bastards.

Hi bos from an itinerant and occasional bo.
First, Happy B'dy Tramp. Many happy returns of the Da"is"y. That house is a beaut- classic Maine attached barn with some nice carpenter gothic detailing. I live in a town of 5 year old McMansions. I have seen the future and its scary.
Petey, very glad hear Aaron is still with us. Give him and the other urchins a squeeze from me. Miss you man. Have internet at home finally-I'll drop you a note, probably tomorrow as I'm all tucked in.
Greetings to Jon, San, Hev, and all the clan.
Finally got my first trip to Europe last week- London, to see the offspring. What a town! Tramp, have you been to Westminster Abbey where the poets have names like Keats and Shelley and lie with kings? One of the most astounding if not the most astounding building I've ever been in with a millenium of English history and 3000 tombs packed within its walls. Saw the great Leonardo cartoon of the Virgin and Saint Anne at the National Gallery after a 35 year wait, and a host of other breathless sights. Bought an old blackthorn walking stick on Portabello Road and had an egg and bacon pie in Kensington Gardens- life can be sweet.
Hoisting a Corona in 80 degree Miami to you all.
