My old trusty PFM DRGW C48 2-8-0 now with coreless motor and Loksound ESU set up on one of the modules to my model railroad.

Lighting is everything in any case. I wanted to make a realistic scene that would be believable, what better way to do this than with a nasty weather day like a snowy afternoon in my front yard? Some fake snow and let’s give it a try.

I finished this model pretty well to photos. It’s ok. The Chevy is a SMTS 7mm scale model imported by Conquest

So when are you going to be selling calendars?

Be a fun prospect, who would buy them? Publishers have used several of my images in thier own materials and I assume it’s been a good investment since they keep coming back for more. I did a limited edition book through Shutterfly 10 years ago and it sold out in weeks. Maybe another?

It’s all a possibility; but like everything it takes time and effort; so far I’ve been only slightly interested in doing articles and such like my friend Santiago does in o scale. That’s not something I care to do, a rep could do it for me, but in this hobby we don’t have that sort of thing. I’m still spinning my wheels on a 5 page article with Otto at RMC on my portable layout. It’s bits and pieces so far but does have a viability. You remind me to get off my kiester and get it done.

Hi Erik,

I'm going to build some dioramas/modules and would appreciate knowing what you use to build the structure for you modules. What do you cover the foam or ??? with that is visible in edge shot of the 2-8-0 module.

The design was my friend John Johnson's plan. He used a frame made from recycled wood and filled the openings with Styrofoam, glued in place. In o scale moving a 6 x 2 foot module alone using traditional means would be a heavy proposition. I work alone mostly and move them in a van, set up legs custom designed for this use also designed and built by John. We worked together for many years and he passed away suddenly a year ago from ALS. This set me back a bit and unfortunately I no longer have his assistance in building new frames. He also had an extensive wood working shop.

Webenda, I just saw literally momentarily, a second .. Flickr said you gave me a subscription, and I accidentally declined it. Good grief. I sure do appreciate it, not sure how I managed to “decline” it. Why would that even be an option to decline such a generous thing? I surely would have accepted it if I didn’t accidentally decline it.

I considered you might decline the gift, but decided to send it anyway, in hopes of improving your use of Flickr. I believe you have a free subscription; you can do much more with Flickr Pro. I really enjoy scanning through all your photos, and I appreciate how openly you share how you create your art. I wanted to help.

Why would decline be an option? Some people might be offended by a gift or think it's a scam. They have the option to decline, which can help them feel better. If anyone declines, Flickr keeps the money as a donation to support Flickr. I don't mind supporting Flickr. It will help support their policy of offering free photo hosting.
