Love seeing the old diesels and steamers in action. They have "soul" which today's locomotives don't.

Well, Butch, a lot of our mentors said the same about diesels at all, and we probably said it about SD40-2s. Nice thing about history and nostalgia, it's always a moving target. GRIN!
Nearby, the Gettysburg Northern (the former Gettysburg branch of the Reading) is working hard on the right-of-way, restoring old Barnum and Bailey Budd-built stock, and a couple diesels for a tourist operation to start up first of September or so. No hodge-podge of junk here. They are really paying attention to this being a first class operation, restoring their Gettysburg station, even the parking. It a far cry from the "family" operations that popped up in the late 20th century as "tourist" roads.
They were route-testing equipment last week (at the same time I was out testing an old Sub'y Forester I'm waking up) and I stopped, cracked out my phone, and snapped these:
A car pulled in next to me and this 14-year old kid jumped out with his camera, all excited about the GP15 and how they just got it from Larry's and rebuilt it for this service and it used to be a Conrail unit. His mother was driving him on the chase and looked like she actually was enjoying the whole dam thing, but this was his grail that day!
A GP15 was his nostalgia, and on that day I really didn't worry about there being no young people who like trains anymore.

Nostalgia for me is steam. SP switchers, freights, cab-forwards....even the scrap yards in San Pedro where they displayed the latest steamer in the front yard.
Diseasemals?
ALCO, FM, anything with clag. Smoke and noise. I used to run a Baldwin switcher down the middle of city streets in South Anaheim.
Traction? Yellow and Red cars.
