Sorry for all those affected. Wishing y'all the best.

-17 then -14 the last 2 nights here. A balmy 8 degrees this afternoon. Plows out doing their best including squirting melter on the roads.

I endured ice storms while living in VA before heading out west, and actually find Colorado's cold and snow easier to deal with than sleet and ice.

Many years ago I drove east hauling friends over Cameron Pass after skiing at Steamboat, which unbeknownst to me closed right behind me after receiving about 5 inches of fresh, untracked snow. That was a great drive with 4 studded snow tires. :D

A balmy 3 degrees at 1 AM in central. Starting 12/30 about 6 or 7 days forecast in the 50's!

About the same here, 2.4 degrees at 0700. My knees were extra crackly getting out of bed.

8 degrees this morning; out & back to the grocery. 2 of the tire pressure sensors tripped....

Had a good little fire in the fireplace last night - 77 in the kitchen next room over.
We'll have another tonight!

And a Merry Christmas to all! 10 day forecast starting 12/29 has 6 days in the 50's and one day with a high of 60! If that pans out, it will be my Christmas present!

Merry Christmas, Rich. A week ago tomorrow I awoke to 2.4 degrees; today we topped out at 62.4 degrees. Sixty-degree swing from Christmas Eve to New Years Eve.

At least the furnace ain't runnin'.

 I was down at my SIL's place yesterday, and she had a couple of windows cracked. Seems the apartment building she lives in has one setting for the old boiler, and it and the radiators were cranking. The "boiler czar" in her building is also an engineer at the Space Telescope Science Institute which is three or four blocks from her place in Balto. I guess it is rocket science keeping that old plant running. Looks like it came out of the SS Queen Mary.

I probably should have taken 2 cars that I built earlier in Dec outside for painting today,

Split a few chunks of the old red oak this AM. That, together with some remnants of the woodpile and a few scraps from the shop, should keep the edge off today’s chill. Standing at 32.1 degrees at 1400. Good day to build models and sit in front of the fire reading from the ever-growing pile of magazines.

Just brought in this evening's wood for the fireplace.

Football, a good beer, a nice fire in the fireplace, and a good book for the in between times.....and maybe some fun food later to go with that beer.

Really is a raw day. I’m packing for my annual Miami beach trade show. We had a 2 or 3 year hiatus.
I spend entirely too many hours a day tying my shoes
