That has to be an old ad, Lucky Strike green disappeared during World War 2. "LUCKY STRIKE GREEN GOES TO WAR" was one of their advertising slogans.

gregj410, that is absolutely excellent! And 35 years later, here we are! Wokeness, gun control, no longer a nation with sovereignty as millions pour across the southern border, tear all of the statues down that contain reference to our history. You know, the American Civil War never happened, and neither did the Revolutionary War. The Founding Fathers were evil slave owning white racists. America is everything that is wrong in the world.

Right......8 years of economic disaster from a failed policy; 7 years of tax hikes, 3 recessions, and the dismantling of the manufacturing economy of the the US...
I lived in Levittown and watched unemployment hit almost 20%; Wed before Thanksgiving they had to tell the industrial chem division that on Mon. that 50% of them were fired.
Yup, the Reagan years were wonderful....but he was a nice guy...and a big bucket of money arrived when he got colorectal cancer.

In fairness to those years. I wad 12. During the summer months i dried cars for a car wash. $12.00 a week plus tips. No set schedule for the owner. I also worked selling USA Today subscriptions( best paying job i ever had). I saved that money. PSECU. Gave me 16-19 percent interest. I was happy than a pig in sheet!
I spend entirely too many hours a day tying my shoes

Re: Seen in Print
A personal musing I’d like to share :
It’s almost impossible to describe or summarize how life has changed , in the USA and worldwide, since I was a child in the 50’s and teenager during the 60’s . Some of us may have assumed that the cars (for example) and social atmosphere , as we grew-up, would be the same as the mid-to-later 50’s.
For me, the appearance of the first ballpoint pens (Papermate) , instead of metal-pointed sticks dipped into small jars of octopus ink , attached in holes at the top ridges of our school desks, were a signal. Then, came Vietnam when graduation from high school meant some of my friends, instead of getting their first cars, were getting a ride homeward in their coffins, we couldn’t really see too far ahead . But we were scared, nearly ....less.
Perhaps, the changes in the appearances of new cars, from the 50’s thru the early 70’s were a good solid clue we were not going to discover the world of our grandparents and parents awaiting us ahead on our journeys.

The failed policies began at the end of the Nixon/Ford administration. Nixon opened China to American business, whose incredible greed began the decline of American manufacturing. Your boy Jimmie worsened poor economic conditions caused by the oil embargo over the Iranian hostages. Inflation was double digit toward the end of Carter's term, 18-20% for many commodities.
Reagan won the '80 election with a 51-49 percentage, and faced with the massive inflation, the Fed began super rate hikes which actually forced the recession, much like J.Powell is doing right now. At the same time in trying to control inflation and consumer spending, the government began cutting taxes to spur growth. Reagan won his second term in a landslide.
For all of your education and doctorates degrees, I think half of your brain is gone. Seems only the left side is working.

Every generation has to make that discovery. We were always being touted as a generation that would have things better than our parents did. Maybe we have had that, in fact, probably have in many ways, but looking forward is pessimistic now. I don't see my kids having the opportunities that I had over my lifetime.
