Local New York City officials said they're concerned about Staten Island schools seeing an "unsustainable" influx of migrant children by next week.

Travis Civic Association President Gene Guerra said the school in his neighborhood is already "overflowing" and he's unsure if the principal would be able to accept more students.

"There's really no place to put these children," said Guerra, One school is already using a cafeteria as a classroom.

The move comes as Texas continues to send migrants from the southern border to sanctuary cities such as New York City.

Thousands of migrant are now arriving in New York because of all the free handouts. They weren't all sent there by Texas

The lawsuit is the latest back-and-forth between Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey and the Biden administration over Ducey’s decision earlier this year to fill gaps in the border wall with shipping containers. The move was taken in response to the ongoing crisis at the border which saw more than 2.3 million migrant encounters along the border in FY 2022.

"Arizona has had enough," Ducey said in a statement at the time. "We can’t wait any longer."

New York City is struggling to house more than 30,000 migrants amid bussing programs from Texas and Florida, leading Mayor Eric Adams to request $1 billion in emergency funding from President Biden's administration.

NYC crossed the 30,000 threshold earlier this month, with the number sitting at just over 30,300 on Sunday, City Hall reportedly told the New York Post. Of those, the city is actively housing nearly 21,000 in taxpayer-funded housing. The surge is likely to only worsen in the coming weeks as the end of Title 42 nears, removing a key tool border authorities used to deport migrants.

Adams sent the request to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which is reportedly now reviewing the request. Adams first declared a state of emergency regarding the migrant surge in October.

The migrant population has ballooned by more than 10,000 since Adams made his declaration when the population sat at just under 20,000.

I can't provide a better answer. People are inherently stupid, selfish and self-serving, but flooding the country with people who are changing the fabric of the USA is just overwhelming. We are in such a state of flux in this country and the flux is embraced by so many, it's just mind boggling to me.

Japan and India have established similar restrictions as China has loosened its "zero-Covid" lockdown policies in recent weeks — and China requires travelers from the U.S. to test negative.

International travel is a 600lbs gorilla in the room. My mother purchased a pair of finches in France. When she brought them into the USA. She had to quarantine them for a month with customs. Yet we let people roam all over. I have no likable answers as how to handle people traveling internationally today. A good quality and reliable test is a small start. Odds would say “ something worse than covid will come along”
