Well, last month of the year has arrived, and it's usually a pretty good one. Lots of projects going on here, the fruits of which I hope to show soon. Until then, here's a vintage black-and-white of a freakish snowfall on the layout a few years back:

Thanks for that, Hondo, as I was wondering how it was done. First question I have is if you drop this stuff all over a section of the layout, how easy is it to clean up/off afterwards? It was several years ago I took the photo and I seem to recall I used some stuff that came with a Dept. 56 set the wife bought. It looked like it was made from shredded plastic, wax-paper, or something similar. Not too realistic looking, but it vacuumed up easily afterwards without a trace.

The top of the basement layout platform is covered with gray indoor/outdoor carpet, so probably not a good idea to dump a bunch of "wet" snow on it. Might be worth a try on a small display of some sort. I think for the wind-ups, I'm going to use a combination of cotton batting and felt. Not sure yet...still pondering (but running out of time).

Dec. 4th and running out of time. I keep pondering an N or HO scale around this year's tree For the last 2 weeks i have been eyeballing all my old packed away stuff. Trying to figure out which would need less work and money.
Look at the target store. Christmas is almost gone.

I am not impressed with it and would be reluctant to use it.

I'd think that that Target would celebrating! Suckers bought everything at the old prices and now we have space for all the new stuff arriving tomorrow....

That's about right. Target has half a dozen storage containers outside. Filled with merchandise for this Christmas and other seasons. Somewhat of a rebound effect. Last year's supply chain and the year before covid issues. All prepaid by Target. 2.5 years of orders all showed up at once basically. What they bring out to sell is any ones guess.

They'll bring out just enough to maintain the illusion of a near shortage to keep the line of buyers fully engaged.

The Christmas display at Kenilworth is gradually expanding to something approaching its earlier dimensions; here's the 2022 set-up:

Old school, cardboard houses and wind-ups on the table that normally serves as my desk. A few issues remaining to be worked out (sluggish trains and a bit of lighting), but done for the most part. The tunnel/tree-stand worked out well except for the internal lighting (due to my idiocy).
