I love it when these little guys show up each summer... the ticks all but disappear.

I was moving old firewood to make room for some new firewood I am splitting and stacking. There were three ring neck snakes in the old pile. I managed to grab this one. It tied itself into knots. In the photo it has just stuck its head out of the knots to see if I was still there.

Yikes! This is the same guy that used to relocate Black Widow spiders with rolled up bits of paper from his Arizona shed. Nope, I have a hard enough time keeping the garden resident black snake out of the bird houses.

Great photo, however.
