Joe's building a new tinplate layout. He must be getting short on cash.

Evil cannot create anything new, it can only corrupt and ruin what good forces have created or made.

This is the new standard gauge layout that NJCJOE is building. There are nine pages of the construction.

Hmmm, rolling papers, hadn’t thought of that. Probably a good price for a few months supply.

I read that as the collecting hobby contracts, prewar and postwar sets in original boxes with sleeves and papers is where the dollars are; individual pieces and loose sets are seeing a fall-off in value. I’m not sure I see that at York and other local meets, but I’m not sure that’s a fair assessment of what’s going on.

Nice to have that much space. Issue with a large layout; it's like a child that never moves out - you have to take care of it forever.

Joe’s prior layout was unusual, at least to me, for its low height. It looks like his new one follows that model.

As far as maintenance, I think a tinplate-style layout is a bit easier to take care of as compared to a nicely detailed scale layout. I have a big problem with dust; I can’t imagine trying to dust a lot of scenery.

I have driven by his old house many times. So where around Asbury Park. His whole yard was decorated with railroad memorabilia. He had the only shore town house without pink flamingos and gnomes.

I looked. First 3 and last two pages.
I am surprised. I figured the buildup to this and buildout of the basement...would have been different.
Photos do not quite show all the new track, but I am seeing two loops, zero switches, no yards or passing sidings?

Just seems with the space available, yards or passing sidings to show off more equipment would have been better, buy hey, it's his railroad.

Not negative, just surprised. And I know folks into standard gauge who do the loops only, some who do more with switches.
