Re: Whatzit?
There are many browsers you might use to surf the internet, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc. The default browser is the one you choose as the browser that will open automatically when you click a link in an email etc. It is basically the browser that you told your computer you want to use regularly.

Re: Whatzit?
Thanks very much, sir. That's what I had thought but didn't understand why Firefox, which I use, kept asking me to choose them (?)

If it's asking, you probably have not set it as the default; I get that message from the other browsers that I use that I do not have set as the default.
The average train of thought isn’t big enough to carry a full sized opinion on any subject.

Re: Whatzit?
Perhaps, part of the Whatzit involves musing over why it is balanced like that , so precariously (for display?)

Correct idea but wrong country and uses cable, not cog.

The Lookout Mountain Incline Railway is a 4 ft 8+1⁄2 in standard gauge inclined plane funicular railway leading to the top of Lookout Mountain from the historic St. Elmo neighborhood of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
funicular
[fyo͞oˈnikyələr]
ADJECTIVE
(of a railroad, especially one on a mountainside) operating by cable with ascending and descending cars counterbalanced.

I noticed that also Murph. It looks like it is about to tip over, away from the camera. It actually is sitting level in all directions.

Re: Whatzit?
This scene was a surprise.
Whazit?

Surprise 1: I never expected to see this spider because they are so well camouflaged in the forest.
Surprise 2: The spider caught a cockroach.
Why is catching a cockroach a surprise? Because cockroaches are almost indestructible.
These insects can withstand a whole 900 times their body weight. Additionally, the exoskeleton is also super flexible, you can stomp on them and they still run off when you take a look to see if you squished them. Their exoskeleton seems to be made of spring steel.
Roaches are nocturnal in nature, which means they only come out to play at night. The spider species in the picture hunts in daylight and sleeps at night.
Unlike some other pests that can be killed naturally by other predators, cockroaches have none that can help eliminate them for you.

I found this natural cockroach predator behind the toilet. Name the species.

Answer: It is a spider.
Specifically, a Ground Crab Spider, Genus: Xysticus, Species: unknown.
The cockroach is the American Cockroach, capable of running a distance of 1.6 inches (it's own body length) in 0.03 seconds. That is why these cockroaches are so hard to stomp on (or for spiders to catch.)
