Might have to swim for it here in central Maryland...a bit more than four inches of rain in the gauge this AM and it's still coming down. Fortunate to be up on a ridge.

Sun finally came out here but trees down, roads flooded, cattle raped, and women stampeded....

What brand of Tequila were you drinking? I want to get some!

52 this morning.........cut and split 4 wheelbarrow loads of wood yesterday. The health club really worked me over, Got to get back to that later this week....

I ran out of room in the primary storage under cover, so I started a back-up ranking on a pallet around back. I'll probably fill that space waist high by the time I run out of logs to split. All that means is that it probably will be the warmest winter yet....

Got 2"+ down now and coming down ~ 1"/hr right now - red fox was in the back yard this morning......dropped 30 degrees overnight. Looks like we could get 6-8" total if things continue as the maps project.

Got a measly 10" of that beautiful white stuff here in Lorton.

Took advantage of the fine 30* weather to break out the Honda ATV and break trail around the neighborhood. I must be getting old because I had to stop to put on my brain bucket and find a pair of gloves. Then the blasted plow came round and spoiled all our fun!

Dropping below 23* now and still heading down. I might have to get old Max up on the bed tonight for extra heat.

I've seen bits of it closed many times for hours but this takes the prize. 48 mile stretch closed in both directions - 1 direction just now starting to move. So a top five worse section of road in the country gets snow dumped on it and people go out and drive on it. Now I see that just getting onto I95 getting off the Beltway is closed, too.....

8" on the ground here so probably 10" or more where this closure is at and it was coming down an at least an 1"/ hr for several hours.

Of course the snow blower failed to fire up so we shoveled a section..........and I'm feeling that.

20 degrees this morning and so it's all frozen now.....probably cannot get out of our neighborhood - good sized hill to climb that folks around here have no competency to drive up.

I95 is still closed. I drove it about 15 years ago when a similar situation happened. I was headed to Miami from Doylestown. With a quick stop off in Va. Beach. It started to snow while i was in Norfolk. I had to use 64 back to I95. What a mess. By the time i hit the Va. Nc border it was a nightmare. People with motorhomes would stop and campout in the granny lane. trucks also stopped for the night right in the right hand lane of traffic. I gave up and made hotel reservation in NC. When i got to the holiday inn they told " they had no more rooms left." an argument followed from me that " i had reservation" Well they don't have any rooms left. I made my reservations over the phone and had a confirmation number. 'To bad' said the night man. I beg for 2 cots and to lets sleep in the conference room. " No " we were told " you need to leave" Another argument followed. I was really pissed. Cops almost came. I called the holiday inn hotline. They were no help. I left pissed as all hell. They with me slipped and broke his elbow in the parking lot. He sued my work mans comp and holiday. The hotel chain paid him big time. It took about 3 years to settle and he retired to Puerto Rico. Never to see snow again.

That's not a quick stop, Well more than hour off from I95 and PITA drive there and back as well on I64. Done that way too many times ........

It started to snow while i was in Norfolk. I had to use 64 back to I95.

That might have been a big mistake - I64 has been a disaster forever.
