The only other passenger car* I currently own is this one, returning to the ubiquitous 60’-6” heavyweight baggage car. This one is a brass PSC car (which now commands stupid money). I used to have a much larger collection; American Standard, Fisher, the old Sunset 38 Century cars I painted up, lots of it. Now, if it’s here it’s because it has actual employ.

*Not quite true, for there is quite a bit of British coaching stock in 7mm here. Grin!

By now you have discovered that your photos no longer show up. Try Shutterfly - so far, semi-bulletproof.

My last two were K-Line, brought home from the airport, cleaned and lubricated, and photographed for Pete. He asked about end doors and the CNW gallery cars.

The 21" K-Line streamliners were the bargain of the 1990s if you, like me, wanted a semi-accurate, metal, well painted car. I was getting them brand new for $75-$100 each, and back then shipping was a minor expense. They were extruded aluminum with plastic ends and horrible underbody detail. They had generic interiors with little people glued to their seats. Even the trucks were not bad, although I think they had a Chinese prototype.

As you will see, my rather large fleet of K-Line, Mac Shops, and Kasiner roll on such diverse trucks as All Nation, Lobaugh, and Wasatch, with a few Kemtron thrown in the mix. I also found some sand-cast UP trucks which intrigued me and had Dennis cast more. I will get some more photos.

First attempt at cutting a Mac blank - getting older, needs new glass:

The last several do for me. I suspect the first ones dropped off when I was wrestling with the albums.

It isn’t worth the time to fool with really; I’d rather build and run models than spend hours wrestling photo sites and forum foibles. Not disparaging anyone here, but I have no love for it I fear. The platforms just piss me off by their non-intuitiveness, I have no interest in investing hours and hours to learn the work-arounds, and I’m certainly not going to pay for a photo hosting service when I get no joy for the money.

I am having no problem with Sarge's photos, unless it's way back in the thread.

Yep. They show up in a more “modern” iPad. Most of Sarge’s photos show up on the older one, but not the last three.

I just went back and reloaded the first few; they had gotten deleted off the host during the trouble.

Another half-hour I won’t get back. GRIN!

Gotta disagree on this one. I could easily invest hours a week on this forum, reading, posting, converting files, troubleshooting, &c. Some people do this on multiple fora, then faecesbook, twit-ter, email, &c. Keep a log; it’ll surprise you how much of a time sink the social media is, even just feeding MTJ and your email. That’s my free time, my model-building time, or car-maintenance and driving time, and I choose to be very very jealous of it anymore.

So, if a photo hosting site has me to experiment with my settings &c just to make it work on top of the time wasted on the computer under normal circumstances, I have no interest in investing that time when I could be doing something much more productive and more enjoyable.

As far as your tagline, “Alimony is proof peace comes at a price.”Grin!

In general, if its a subject like this one where I have something positive to contribute, I’m in; don’t get me wrong. I don’t feel any obligation to post things just to keep the place alive or engage in idle conversation, though.

I am impressed with the thread drift here. Let me see if I understand the major points:
1. Why bother posting here when nobody else does? Yeah, I get that - Often it seems like I am talking to myself - one of my major flaws.
2. Takes too long to use a hosting site to post photos. Okay, I have a sweep-second clock on the desk, and am going to time this one.
Here is what will happen - I will write down the time just after the comments below, but before I open the hosting site - Shutterfly - and stop timing when this post appears as an actual finished post.
That is not to say that it didn't take me a half hour to set up the Shutterfly account - and figure out what procedure was required. I cannot guarantee a time on that, and of course now that I know how to do it, it would be more like 15 minutes.

First the comments - I want to post this $75 K-Line car as an example of a pretty good deal, and also to show you my interesting sand-cast UP trucks.

Okay - here we go - 11:18:00

11:20:00 - two whole minutes. Includes opening the host site, finding and loading two photos, finding the address of one of them and placing it in the above post, then shutting down the host site and hitting the submit button.

Notes on the above - the vestibule door bottom is below the lower red stripe, as before. I have strings of B&O, UP, GN, some PRR and California Zephyr all in K-Line 21". Also every single time I type Shutterfly I really want to type Shuttlesworth, after a famous lawsuit of the Civil Rights era.

Off to the airport - final wiring of my new radio setup today, and hopefully a test flight.
See, there really is time to enjoy other things in my life - read two cases about how to fire an "Officer" (Morrison v Olson) looked at a bunch of forums (fora?) read the newspaper, watched an "Omarosa" interview, ate breakfast - outta here!

Reading those last couple, including signing in and typing this response, ten minutes at the trot.

Then adding I’m not paying yet another subscription for a hosting service since I don’t use it enough to justify the expense and tech already costs me far too much a month.

Enough of me allowing myself to be crucified for not embracing the world of the social media. I regret not keeping any criticism of the magic to myself. Carry on twisting my words and point to suit. Grin!
