The contents of that larger case look like, at this distance in time and space, a miniature model train layout type neighborhood.

And if so, I can't figure out how the rest of the store fits that concept.

I think those are candies or possibly shelled nuts? Whatever it is it is sold by weight, note the small scale on the counter.

Perhaps I am in error since I am viewing this on my iPhone , as per usual.

When I presented my handcrafted scenes, of various sizes , for sale to model train hobbyists at the TCA Meets at York, PA , twice a year, they were always presented for viewing in acrylic cases I had custom-made for me, all very similar to that counter case in the picture, though in a wide variety of sizes , ranging in size from 44"L x 24"W to some the size of shoeboxes . That was my visual reference point in interpreting that counter photo. Oh well.

P.S. What my imagination sees in that landscape scene are empty lots filled with detritus and foliage; some sort of petroleum-like tanks; tall trees and poles; perhaps some parked vehicles
in a lot. (Go figger )

That and then factor in the time frame of the photo on the card; it's taken in Driftwood, Pa which was just about in the middle of nowhere and seems even more so now.

That makes total sense to me, which is why I took particular note of that case's contents, wondering if there were plenty about the circa and location of the contents of the photo of which I had no idea whatsoever (!) a little scene for a train layout, there; then? Huh? So that's why (obviously) I made mention of it since you guys have such myriad perspectives .
