Scale Trains buys MTH HO/S tooling
Re: Scale Trains buys MTH HO/S tooling
What have we actually heard from the Mouth of Mike?
After the initial posting concerning closing of MTH has he said anything?
Seems like a lot of wishful thinking to me.

Good point Roger. Mike has said nothing publicly. Lots of rumors and supposition, and perhaps a good dose of wishful thinking. And this chaotic ending is pretty much par for the course with Mike. He first scathingly condemned command control, then promised it, then it didn't show up for a while, and then it was the best thing since sliced bread. Lawsuits about nothing. This ending is not all that surprising. He's retired. No, he's not retired. Maybe he's partially retired. We're going to sell the company. No just parts of the company. The employees will own it. Well, bits of it.
I think they are making this up as they go, trying not to go over the falls in their canoe. And retain some modicum of loyalty from their terrorized customers who don't know what to think. How could they? Mike Wolf is dodging and weaving down the field, hoping he can reach the end zone through the marching band and the drunken fans
. It has all the marks of success in the making, pretty much like Napoleon's invasion of Russia. I think that's enough metaphors and analogies for one evening.

Very likely. He's already laughing all the way to the bank. It's his reputation he's fighting for and he knows he holds the aces on that one. His true believers love that fellow. He can do no wrong, pretty much.

Let's just feel fortunate the sue happy mongrel and all of his court injunctions on the supply chain are gone. The guy's head was so fat, he felt he owned the rights to track ballast. It was that bad.

My wife would say that "you would need to grease his head to get him through the door".
Never understood some things. Remember I am not and have never been an insider in anything trains.
On my only York trip in 2010 most of my time was spent in the Orange Hall because I was helping a person there.
Just some observations. The Lionel and Kalmback exhibits seemed to be very friendly and helpful to all. Young kids were running trains for Lionel.
The Atlas and OGR people did not seem to be interested in talking to anyone unless they were insiders.I saw some of the same kids that were
running trains for Lionel being told not to touch anything on the MTH exhibit. Mike did have a group around him making agreeable sounds.
Many of the smaller exhibitors were very helpful even after you told them you weren't buying.

I don't think things have changed all that much. Except "the beards have grown longer over night" - to quote Pete Townsend.

Most of the trouble in the world is caused by people wanting to be important.

I can’t resist, sorry George
And the light flashing with every chuff over PW track is so prototypical
These guys act like they’ve never even witnessed a Legacy loco doing the exact same thing without the engine not found message.
Your gonna wish you were back in that dentist chair once you’ve experienced the full Monty of DCS
That won’t last. You’ll be begging to go back to the dentist 6 months in.
Your gonna need some help and maybe a check up from the neck up. I’ll wait with baited breath
This is especially for those new to DCS, like me, or interested in possibly acquiring it. Take a look at the beautiful prototypically slow and even performance of this MTH Proto 3 steam switcher running on DCS on my layout that has voltage drops in several places:

By the way, I posted this while sitting in the dentist chair during breaks from having my teeth drilled. That is the beauty of this Forum. LOL, Arnold

I have come late to the DCS party, but am now as passionately positive as anyone about it.

I have only used the basic Dcs functions, which I am enjoying. Down the road, I will explore its other functions, especially with "A Little Help With My Friends," that's you folks here on the Forum.

No, I saw this thread and refuse to take part. These posters are all friends who have been taken in by the DCS promises of operational utopia. I have nothing but concern for them.
As I have said before, there are only 2 types of DCS users:
- Those who have had problems with DCS;
- And those who will.
My annoyance is not with the victims, but with those who know the issues yet perpetuate the myth (i.e. the misery loves company crowd).

Command control is fun. When it works, which is almost all the time with TMCC/Legacy/LionChief and sometimes with DCS

Definitely depends on the complexity of the layout. I have DCS but I only have a few simple loops. It works fine.

The only thing that is broadcast in the RF range is the signal from the hand held to the TIU. Everything else is just serial communication carried on the track. The baud rate is around 128kbs, basically ISDN speed.
