3/4 of my daughter's classes are live stem. her math and spelling classes are recorded videos or a cartoon teacher.

A lot of my daughter's were too in high school - they were watered down versions of what I had in junior high. What they tout as STEM is so diluted as to be almost useless, primarily because anything more complicated would be beyond the teacher, and also since it fulfills the requirements set by the state and Fed Gov'ts. Last thing that education needed was the intrusion of Gov't......

It’s pretty bad when my oldest daughter did an internship at the local elementary school. The kids had to spell chief and the ones that spelled chef still got credit.

I listening to my daughter's class today. Her teacher spent the time teaching how to read a weather map. He went into torrs and isobars. When i hear some of her classes. I get the feeling. Her teacher wants to pull her hair out and scream. Some of the kids speak " gangsta " and some sound like little babies. I know i have said " Our school system needs help" I get the feeling many parents have failed their kids. No school system will help these kids.

Thing is, that's not a new or recent phenomenon in the schools - they were doing that with my son school nearly 30 years ago.

That's a big component of the problem.

But we have to reopen the schools......or the daycare centers..........so the kids are out of the house so the parents can work and earn tax dollars; heard that yesterday from a Republican in congress of all people. But you know they have to get the serfs and peasants back to work before they do something really dangerous lke starting to think,

Our schools are open. Parents wont let their kids return. Kids can't handle the Covid stress. A mask with a plastic shield . Teachers behind a plexi wall. Our school district has not published attendance numbers. People are saying only "30 percent of the students returned". Others are saying less. Some school bus drivers are quoted saying " we only have 10 kids per day on the bus" School district claims. "parents are driving kids to school" Parents don't want their kids sitting 70 in a bus" A local tax payer group has filed a right to know on how many kids left the district schools. We have a lot of homeschool groups in the area. Parents take turn watching a group of 8-10 kids. Most of the parents i talk to have had it with brick and mortar schools. I can't say how long these groups will last. 1 year 2 years or more. There appears to be a lot of benefits to these groups. kids are watched better. less distractions. No fear, no need for $150.sneakers. No playground bully. With only 10 students it's more of a team. Not a classroom of 30.

NKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has denounced student protesters as “terrorists" and vowed to crackdown on demonstrations opposing the appointment of a government loyalist to head Istanbul’s most prestigious university.

Students and faculty members of Bogazici University have spent weeks protesting Erdogan’s Jan. 1 appointment of Melih Bulu, an academic who once ran for parliament as a candidate for Erdogan’s party. They have called for Bulu to resign as the university’s rector and for the university to be allowed to elect its own president, saying the appointment was an affront to academic liberties.

Scores of students have been detained amid the protests, some taken away following raids of their homes.

“I do not accept these youngsters, who are members of terrorist groups, as sharing our country’s national and moral values,” Erdogan said in a video address to thousands of ruling party members who are holding regional congresses.

“Are you students... or are you terrorists who try to raid the office of the rector and occupy it?” he asked.

An Ohio mother said Monday that she made a "judgment call" in switching her daughter from public to Catholic school, after coronavirus restrictions made it impossible to virtually teach her children and work her job at the same time.

"We didn’t have a choice," said Brittany Goldsmith during an appearance on "Fox & Friends."

Goldsmith explained that after her public school district made the decision to go 100 percent virtual she started researching other options, as her family had run out of money to provide daycare while the kids were learning from home.

The mother explained that in public school her daughter "hated school," and struggled to read and learn. However, at a Catholic school, she is now thriving and decided she wants to be a music teacher when she grows up, after dressing up for future careers during spirit week.

Goldsmith added that she was able to secure a voucher to send her 7-year old daughter to Catholic school, after her friend recommended that she apply for eligibility.

I don't think vouchers pay the total cost and all private schools are expensive. There must be more.
