Nice!!!
Once I built a railroad, I made it run,
Made it race against time.
Once I built a railroad, now it's done --
Brother, can you spare a dime?

I'm on my last and only good sized layout but if I was starting from the beginning I would try to design a layout with slot cars and trains on the same layout. There are some on you tube. The cars would have to go over or under the track.

When I was growing up a friend that lived nearby had an HO layout with a slot car track on it. He and I would race while his kid brother would try to ram our cars at the crossing. The younger sibling finally got to the point of stopping just the locomotive about an inch from the crossing and waiting for us to cross in front of him. He didn't understand that the loco's acceleration from a standing start was no where fast enough to hit the cars and that he had better luck lurching out in front of of us before we could stop. Their dad wasn't to pleased with either scenario.
