Not a SC frame, nor cylinders, nor worm mount...and especially NOT worm and wormgear.
Gotta be one of the more interesting gear pitches I've seen.

pretty generic chassis construction for mid 30's .... gearing not Alexander or Icken .. Scale Railway Models tend to have cast chassis ...so made by the great unknown ... worth about a Jackson if you have a need for it

I had one like that, same chassis construction, cylinders, valve train, no motor, normal gears, uninsulated, gave it all the Jim. Threw the boiler away after stripping details off. Not worth saving.
Strange gears tho.

I have an Alexander Reading 4-6-2. The frame is cast but the gear setup is similar:





The Lobaugh SP Mountain was introduced with a similar "worm in shaft" setup, but they used a fiber gear, and also had a spur-gear step-down between the motor and the worm shaft (a feature found on some Alexanders as well).

Most of the older ones had worm cut into the shaft. SC, A-N, those kind of things. But the one linked, pitch is steep like the Alexander you show.
