But are any of these actually selling? People ask stupid prices all the time; nothing new about that. Be much more interesting (and entertaining...) to see/know that anyone actually paid stupid prices.

The more interesting and probably telling data would be how much is listed, then shown as either "sold" or "re-listed" with search engines showing the "sold" flag on the photo.

PROOF! that one JUST LIKE THIS sold on evilbait for 100 times what it's worth.

I think there are too many ways to game the system, and evilbait doesn't care.

For years and years we have watched this, and no amount of saving data will give documentation you would accept.

Stuff is listed for ridiculous amounts. Bidding wars ensue. Or so it seems. Stuff goes into "obnoxious" category.

Sold.

A week later the same item from same seller shows back up for same price it "sold' for.

And nobody ever sees the high bidder again.

Draw your own conclusions.

There seems to be a similar situation on that great TV program "American Pickers".
We see all the haggling and buying and how much it cost along with what amount they will sell it for and how much profit they will make.
But we never actually see what it does sell for if it sells. The only time I recall was when they were going to make a killing on a "rare"
Lionel train that they sold at auction and lost several thousand dollars. They have never bought another train.

Or those big porcelain covered signs, with bullet holes, rusted, porcelain flaking off...not worth the time to haul it to the dump, "I'll give you three grand for that beauty!"

They never seem to have anyone come in to visually check them before the "reveal"...or they'd spot the chrome trim around the headlights on one side dipping down and not even close the the bonnet trim....or the side trim, clips on one part upside down, and the pieces don't line up front to back.
The latest is Titan Restorations. Buy a rusted out 62 MB cabriolet, paint gone, engine seized, trim gone....for 50 grand and the appraiser says worth 7K, and they get done on a SLOW road test (on the wrong side of the road) and the stupid GRILLE attached to the bonnet is crooked. Bonnet is bent but nobody sees it.
Or the 356 Porsche they fu....mess up so bad I wouldn't want it in my neighborhood. Come on, cut the split back window out of an early VW bug and splice it in?

Thanks. I've seen all of the things you were talking about, and more. So much so, that I finally stopped bidding on mens watches completely. I was recently "outbid" by someone with a 100% bid history, and followed the watch all the way to its relisting. That was it.
