Tracks are right there in the street coming around the corner......and overhead is visible, too.

I think I see what confused me. I saw the tracks and overhead but where the tracks cross the railroad (?)
the view of the actual crossing seems to be blocked by a fence.

The street car traffic in those times was amazing. I see 8 or 9 in that photo.
Check the street brick-work.
What is the thing about a third of the way from the left that appears to be on
top of a building that seems to have 2 lines running to it?

A great question, Roger. At first I thought it might be a telegraph pole, but when you blow it up, you can see the framework is in the form of a spiral. That might suggest some sort of an antenna.

It’s probably the community clothes line.

West Chester is a lovely town. One could burn an entire day there, hit all the shops and finish with a decent pub crawl.
