I've been around model railroads for....a long time. Seen all sorts of motors, drives...but not this.
Advertised for 0....what are they? I mean, had to come from somewhere...like a Norden Bombsight.

They don't look like O or S scale loco motors to me but I haven't seen everything.

I've seen something like these and they were, in fact, from S Scale models. Rex maybe. I also seem to remember Romford (sic) made something very similar.

I really don't know. I assume they were created for uses, other than model trains. I believe most of the motors we use were created for other applications.
BTW, I think the spelling was Rhomford.
There was another company that made S Scale models...locos too. Nixon (NIMCO) was the name. All of this was primarily late '40s to mid '50s.
