This guy, and the seller of that ugly GM articulated, have every right to ask such prices, and a potential buyer has every right to give them buckets of money. We have every right to make jokes about it.

I don’t visit these forums daily so I was delighted just now to see over 20 replies and hoped I get more information on this NYC engine.

Then I read them! LOL. Now I have no idea if there ever WAS such a NYC locomotive! Thanks a lot, guys. I spent about a half hour searching online for the skinny on this locomotive. As I found nothing I should have known I’d been had. That’s mean as I take all information from modelers as truthful unless I find out otherwise. Caveat emptor.

I did post a linque to a NYC website...and A-3 is an 0-4-0.
The engine shown looks more C&O or such with nose hung air compressors. My guess is that tender (painted and lettered) did not come with that engine (neither painted nor lettered).

I have never been a user in any way of e-ba---oops, evil bait. Just never really understood it.
If U ever had thoughts of using it I think that the writings I often see posted by many of youse guys would quickly lead me away from that.

I looked up the Whyte notation and a 2-8-8-4 is a Yellowstone, and I didn't recall the Water Level Route ever having one, even waaaaay back.. As far as the engine in the auction, from what I could see, the "very good" description came from the Jules Verne file. The BIN was silly, but Pete's description was priceless!

Yeah sorry about that, since the listed "model" was sooooooo long I classified our E-Bay subject as an NYC class A-3.1428 as the quotient of dividing 22 by 7 on my desktop calc app, if I had used true Pi' it would have been NYC Class A-3.14159 etc
Rich and Dave picked up on this immediately, just like I did with Dave's initial Kubrick film reference,

Really though, a long distance tender on what I'm guessing is some variation on a some NP Z class(spitballing here) or some such?
Whew, but it would be actually interesting to truly determine with regard to that kluged listing what the provenance and prototype for the engine itself is.
