If you stop Medicare and Social Security, you'll have Republican politicians (or clueless Democrats supporting such policies) being assassinated by irate people in their 80s and 90s :).

Social Security and medicare are both pyramid schemes. Paid for in advance through a payroll tax with which the employer also paid into. I don't know how it works for those of you that work for the government. Who is going to stop them ? they will both go bankrupt first.

Who were the politicians that used the surplus money from social security and now can't pay it back.

Name one president that wasn't a career politician before he became president. Trump never was a politician.

Name one president who employed thousands of people before he became president through private industry

In 1985, Mar-a-Lago was purchased by Donald Trump at a price of around $10 million. So what...

The Obama's just bought a 15 million dollar home on Martha's vineyard and they own a 7 million dollar home in DC

Anyone who defends Trump as a human being or leader is automatically suspect as to their judgment. He's a lying, corrupt, lacking in empathy and actually fairly stupid and ignorant individual. He's a disaster as a leader and a human being, who has surrounded himself with incompetent or sycophantic anti-science, ideologically driven individuals. Pragmatism is not something any of them have evidenced. He will lead us to ever greater disasters if re-elected, just as he has almost totally screwed up the response to this pandemic.

Speaking of the pandemic. That's an area of knowledge I have forgotten more about than his entire White House staff put together. I have extensive experience in public health, epidemiology and virology. I'm not driven by politics or ideology (not things I give a crap about), but by simple rational thought and scientific knowledge.

Almost total incompetence at the top. Without Fauci and Birx we would be in even a greater disaster mode than we are. Thus, given the response to the pandemic, killing more citizens in a few months than all of the wars of the last 60 years, the most destructive American of the last 80 years is without a doubt, Donald J. Trump. :).

If you think there is any doubt of that, it's not even worth having further conversation at this point. He's a perfect genius at creating stable disasters and general harm to the body politic. The closest thing to an American Mussolini we've ever seen.

Interesting...
France a few years back incorporated a 75% tax on those making a million or over per year. Didn't work out and they eliminated it.

Let's do it here and see what happens. I would like to see Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerburg along with all the Hollywood elite and athletes get hit with that. There are just as many liberal billionaires as there are conservative billionaires in the US.

As of October 2019, there were 621 billionaires in the US, There are now 373 billionaires in China

A lot. Yes. In fact heavily regulated and tracked as they end up paying taxes to every state that they play in during an event.

Visiting teams in philly pay 10 percent of a game check per game. Home team pays a little less. I know people don't like to hear this. " it pays for a city to fund a stadium project".

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) made news this week when he confirmed that the Empire State plans to send an income tax bill to out-of-state health care workers who came to New York City to help treat coronavirus patients. Governor Cuomo’s remarks, in which he referred to the prospect of not taxing out-of-state volunteer health workers as a “subsidy,” indicate that he would reconsider this approach only if the federal government sends more money to New York.

“We're not in a position to provide any subsidies right now because we have a $13 billion deficit," Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.

That's a really nice thank you from Cuomo. :(

Why is anyone surprised that the White House has become a COVID-19 disaster area in the making? The idiot in chief and his assistant idiot in chief refuse to wear masks, the most useful strategy we have for mitigating transmission at present. But it requires everyone to comply to have much benefit. I'm sure lots of the trusting staff don't wear masks. Karma is a bitch, isn't it?

Cuomo isn't referring to volunteers, but to those who were paid "locum tenens" employees. Many docs and nurses volunteered, still paid by their home institution (including our own). If you were paid by an out of state institution, New York has no knowledge of that income. If you were a volunteer, you didn't get paid, so there is no reporting of income to be taxed.

If you were sent by an agency and thus paid well, you probably owe tax (federal and state) as you would in non-pandemic situations. Agree it sounds bad as a PR issue, but they haven't changed the law one iota. Not sure why Cuomo even mentioned it, since it's business as usual, and sounds like he's being heartless. If we're not going to erase taxes owed by those on the frontlines who work in New York State routinely, why would we do so for those who showed up for the money and were paid from some out of state agency? Same risk, same process.

A lot of owners now have skin the game on stadiums - Jerry Jones for one - and the local cities control much of their use and income.
