The reality of things is bad math: 1 day show, 2 days drive

There should be layout tours on Sunday, so there are two days of activities.

We keep our costs down by holding the meet in a church hall, which is only available to us on Satuday.

Sounds nice, but the drive and lodging are the killers, and Roger has already given me the boot! Sorry, Roger, but I don't know anyone else in Georgia to pick on!

Chattanooga would be closer than I am and you could visit the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum.

The show's coming up in the next week, and should be a good one
Sales tables, Two clinics- Tom Yorke on his model building business and Ovidiu T. (the Atl's command control guru) on DCC , also some excellent layout open houses Saturday and Sunday.

Another refresh as we get close to the 22nd
The show will have 25 to 30 sales tables with approximately 20 vendors,
clinics will include a Modeling Buildings and Structures presentation by Thomas York
and a Modeling in Proto-48 presentation by Paul Hanson and Jim Canter
Malcolm Byrd, the prolific carbody builder is attending and will have a table.
There will be three home layouts and the Southern O Scaler's Modular layout on the Open House tours.
A most edifying series of entertainments by any measure.

So how was the big show guys. Would havde loved to have attended, but a tad too far.

It was a great; good sales tables with IMO lots of bargains. I sold a few cars, some old Holgate & Reynolds C&NW shorty sides and a book, not as good as the year before but then again might have had more local turn-out if the area 3-rail TCA-ers hadn't short scheduled their meet date on top of ours.
Nevertheless good time, the clinics were great- Tom York is a genius, I learned a lot about his creative process and look forward to employing his technique with both buildings, vehicles and rolling stock, his modeling was so good and so different that it's hard to describe. Likewise Paul Hanson and Jim Canter's Proto-48 presentation was well received too. I got to meet and catch up with a lot of friends too. It was just a really good-good day.

I saw some of Malcolm's photos on the OGR. Wish I could have got to meet Malcolm, but alas, Atlanta is pretty far.

He had some SOU passenger cars in the photos. Are those SOU passenger cars, 2R'd Lionel 21" stand-ins?

Yeah Dave, the Southern passenger train are Lionel 21" stand-ins. I think Chris Webster got some pics, I did not as my phone battery pooped out beforehand.

Likewise Paul Hanson and Jim Canter's Proto-48 presentation was well received too.

The clinic space was right next to the club's small conventional O (not P:48) portable layout. As Jim and Paul were setting up for their clinic, the NYC Mohawk that was running on the layout lost a wheel -- it just fell off its axle, changing the Mohawk into a 3-8-2. It made me wonder if Paul & Jim could make locomotives convert themselves to P48 just by looking at them?

Another highlight for me was the debut of a club member's Penn Central GP20 -- it is absolutely gorgeous.

Following the swap meet, there were four layouts open for touring - the main Southern O Scalers layout, a prototype based Georgia Road layout, a double-deck On30 layout with absolutely spectacular scenery, and a prototype-based layout of the dual-gauge D&RGW between Alamosa, Colorado to Antonito, Colorado and the narrow gauge from Antonito to Chama, New Mexico (the present-day Cumbres and Toltec Scenic railroad.)
