Some people have no idea what they are doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.

Didn't drive-up ATMs have Braille markings?

Yup! Last time I walked up to one (regular ATM was dead...) I noticed that they did. I think that they all had the same keyboard regardless of placement. New ones are all touch screens - no idea how those work for vision impaired.

The atm talks and the client pushes the buttons that are not part of the touch screen. The standardized pad is truly standardized. The layout. The braille, even the size is universal for ALL bank ATM machines. "Private" units are another story. Most of the touch screen stuff is just there to allow shortcuts and to avoid paper printouts.

Make sense. Touch screen units that are at my one bank are something you just want to take a hammer to after a few seconds.

I second that smash a touch screen atm. at my bank i feel blind using their atm. When the sun hits it just right about 2 hours a day. you cant see a D**n thing on the screen. Today's morning news claimed " atm touch screens are a perfect germ spreader
I spend entirely too many hours a day tying my shoes

Did the news explain that antibacterial and antimicrobial solutions for touchscreens and kiosks have been around a long time and we would be wise to use them before using Kiosk touchscreens?
Just announcing that touch screens have germs on them is totally useless information.

Not everyone touches braille signs but for those who do, germs, germs, germs.

Yes, and the ones I use are outside the bank and there's nothing there in the way of antibacterial and antimicrobial solutions.

Re: Seen in Print
Yes they did a segment on trying to cut down on spreading germs and places people don't think are filled with germs. They recommend people carry around their own stylus to use on touch screen. One thing that was really nasty. An office photocopier. You can use a stylus or pencil to push buttons on a photocopier.

This conversation, thus far, has been a helpful heads-up.
