Technically, the rail's connection to the earth at both ends holds it up, yes.

Roger, I cannot find much information about the abandoned railway of Dinorwig, Wales.
I assume there was some kind of real bridge under the tracts at some time.
What I showed would not work. the track would twist and toss any train into the abyss.
