I am back!
A couple of months ago, I changed my email address and due to the way that the MTJ forum was originally set up, ones postings are not allowed until the admin folk(s) re-set ones posting privileges. Mine were reset on Thursday; I was having withdrawal symptoms!
During that time I spent a lot of time on OGR; they have changed a lot, definitely for the better, I would say. A note: Marty Fitzhenry passed away a couple of weeks ago, he was well respected and is greatly missed. Even I was sad about his passing even though I had no contact with him. His contributions were an asset to the OGR forum. Anyway I am glad to be able to post again; reading and not being able to answer was just so, well, difficult!

Dave,
Are you saying that the OGR forum has changed enough that It might be worth a visit?
What did you notice that was different?

Re: I am back!
Fitzhenry was a genuinely nice guy. I met him once, at York while looking for some prewar bits at one of the Orange Hall parts dealers. I was talking to the parts guy, not having much luck finding what I was looking for, felt a hand on my shoulder, turning to find Mr. Fitzhenry standing there. He said he’d overheard my query, then took me down a few racks and suggested an alternative PW part. I don’t recall what it was I was looking for at the time, but the conversation was along the lines of “take this part, cut this bit off, drill two holes here and here, then you have something that will work until you can find the exact part.” His suggestion worked out quite well, so well that I’ve never gone back and replaced it. Based on that experience, together with having read many of his posts on OGR, he was a vast resource to the hobby. He’ll be missed.

Nothing in particular, I sensed an overall change such as the questions and the answers to them seem to be a lot more logical/helpful. Not to mention that things seem a lot more civil now. Note that even though I am basically a two-railer, I do read the three-rail forum (lots of useful ideas/tips, etc), along with a few others that I like. Just like here!

Yes, I think so. Especially if you give it a couple of weeks/visits.
In fact, in a couple of months, I think that I will subscribe to the OGR print edition.
Re: I am back!
I have subscribed to OGR mag for sometime.
Although the forum and the mag are the same company they don't seem to have the same philosophy.

No, not really as Rich still has some say in what goes on.

Yes, you merely have to look for the glistening trail to see where he's been active oozing about over there....
