VEGANS

Postby HONDO74 » Sat Jan 04, 2020 6:36 pm

Vegans are a ‘protected’ class at work, UK labor court rules
https://www.foxnews.com/food-drink/vega ... ourt-rules

On Friday, a tribunal in Norwich, England, determined that ethical veganism is a “religion or belief,” and one of the nine “protected characteristics” under the 2010 Equality Act.

So now we have to contend with a religion of vegetables. :?:

When did you move to England?

A couple decades ago, I was able to drive from the USA to Canada and return, on a whim, only using my driver's license as i.d. Since then, I have heard a U.S. citizen needs his passport - that even showing his birth-certificate would be insufficient - to get back into the USA. I don't know that as fact, just something I had been cautioned about by a friend when I had been contemplating a repeat short trip thru Upstate NY and into Canada for my wife and me, as a quick jaunt, but was warned otherwise, since my wife never had a passport. So, we did not try making that trip.

You’ll be detained for a day or two and feed chicken sandwiches.

You have needed your passport to go to Canada and back for many years now.

I went to Toronto in 1980, and the only thing I remember is the Canadian at the border asked if I was going to leave anything in Canada. My reply was: A record album and maybe a few golf balls, upon which he frowned and sent me on by. Coming back I crossed at Niagara Falls ("Rainbow" bridge into Buiffalo, as I recall) and I don't remember even being stopped on the way back. Ain't that way no mo'. I have NEVER had a passport.

You will need a passport if you leave the country. As of Oct 1 2020 you will need a REAL ID drivers license nondriver license or permit (or other acceptable identification documents. i.e. passport) to board domestic flights and access certain federal facilities.

My drivers license expires this month and my passport expires the last of April so I will be getting the new REAL ID drivers license. I don't no if I will renew the passport or not as I don't intend to leave the country. The passports are good for 10 years.

Or a valid passport. Between that and my current Gov't ID, I can get about just fine.

My passport has a good number of years left on it and I'll be renewing the drivers license later this year concurrently to address the REAL ID drivers license. I don;t know whether I'll ever travel outside the country again, but one less impediment is just that.

I worked at a federal job (at about the LOWEST level of security there could be). When I started things were real loosey goosey. Then came 9/11 and everything changed. They sent me and one of the other guys over to get fingerprinted. Took three times for them to get it right. My first ID indicated I was retired military....NOT. I can imagine what a PITA it will be to get the new improved??? Real ID. I just renewed my driver's license (plain old standard one), and unless I find some urgent need for the REAL thing, they can stick it up their rosy red rectum.

Hi E7, You sound angry at the tail-end of your reply, above. May I ask why?

Getting the REAL ID drivers license is not a problem; All that is required is.

1, a birth certificate or
a passport

2. a social security card

3. Something to verify your present address.
If you get a drivers license renewal card in the mail that will qualify for the address
or a utility bill or something that would show your present address.
