Weekend Photos - 12/06/2019

Been hitting the train/toy meets the last few weeks. Not as much fun as when I was actively looking for stuff, but I still find interesting bits which will eventually find their way onto the layout. Picked up these two projects from a guy's under-table everything-is-a-buck box:

The 629 coach is pretty beat up. It may end up getting stripped and repainted as an addition to the mini-SG set I put together a few years ago. The 1514 I'll try to refurbish to some level of respectability. I sent one last order in to George Tebolt for doors, couplers, and a few other bits for the parts box...got a nice note from Agnes saying thanks and that mine was the last retail order going out. They've retired, and they've earned it!

Sarge, my son, and I hit the Greater York Toy Extravaganza the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Bought a bunch of stuff there, including this Corgi Cooper-Maserati from 1967 or so:

Pretty ingenious - lean the driver right or left and the front wheels cut in that direction.

The York toy show is pretty fun, although it’s a bear walking around seeing all your stuff from when you were ten years old laying on the tables. Your gut is to buy it all up, so you have to show some restraint. Fills the black and silver halls for one day, probably as crowded as TCA meet on Friday.

I understand. At the Eastern Division show, I often see toys from my youth. I had a blessed childhood, with many wonderful memories of parents, grandparents, and my aunt. I miss them. It's always bittersweet.
