Disconcerting when food products have asterisks/disclaimers.

Even worse is reading an ingredients list and finding that what you where hoping was 1st or 2nd on the list is really in 5th place and is "artificially flavored". Also great when they use generic terms like "seasoning". aka whatever was left on the shelf at the time? I was hoping for something more specific like Oregano or Cumin or Turmeric.

They do taste good, but bring a towel to mop away the grease.

Last really good burger I had was from Smashburger.

I make some good hamburgers at home using ground sirloin from the market or venison. Even good without the bun, all protein no carbs.

Culver's basic Butter Burger is pretty good and they have a more complete nutritional breakdown on their web site. 80% of the sodium and over half the calories are from the bun. Since they are founded out of Wisconsin they take pride in using real cheddar cheese. They are also almost exclusively a midwest chain with Florida being the only major outlier. No stores in the north east or west coast. One in Wyoming. There are 31 in Arizona and 10 in Utah. Great frozen custard decent onion rings and they do sell non traditional fast foods like soups and specialty deli sandwiches.

My all time favorite fast food was A&W back in the 60's and early 70's. They had the "Family Burgers" and I liked the Mama and Teen burger best. BTW, you can still get them is slightly modified forms at A&W Canada. Sides included real onion rings and french fried mushrooms as well as fries and their great Root Beer in a frosty mug (dine in). There are still A&W's around in the US but the menu and food are nothing like what they used to be.

There's an A&W in Ohio next too far from the eastern boarder along Rt 70. Always stopped in there when I passed through on my way to Indianapolis...

That's what makes them good, still juicy with some grease! :D It's like buyin' a Philly Steak & Cheese. For me, if it ain't drippin', it ain't good.

The best in this area, even my wife likes them and she does not like burgers, are a small local chain of 4 or 5 st0res named B&D burgers.
We only go to 5 guys if everything else is closed and we have nothing at home to eat.
