Old news and they only need the user names for almost all of them today. They hire folks to check all this stuff out. Used to be that they were only concerned about fraud in CV's. Turns out that the fraud level in resumes and application forms is rampant. Today's paradigm is to just make stuff up.

Not long ago you could make a statement and then deny that you said it but today everybody has their phone ready to record at all times.

Well, so now everyone can get caught lying or saying something amazingly stupid......and I'm not sure that that's all bad. A lot of bad people have been caught out and folks are slowly beginning to understand that behaving amazingly stupid does have consequences. Maybe they will be less stupid, but I have no realistic expectations of that happening. Sadly, I think the opposite is happening wherein stupid behavior is becoming more and more glorified.

As to freedom of speech on this forum, it is probably the least controlled of model train forums but something you say here can be taken
and used elsewhere and possibly out of context. I would not want to be seeking a position of any kind today that requires a serious background
check. I don't mean that I have done anything wrong     but if something is questionable at all it will be found.

I am aware that it is old news. I said for Rogers benefit.

Now for your information, Facebook can be made private where only you and people you designate can see what you posted. That's why they would need your password.

Don't know about the other media like twitter. I think twitter is the one that's getting people in trouble with things they have said in the past like racist or homophobic tweets. Homophobic tweets is what got Kevin Hart booted from doing the Oscars.

Apparently there are ways around that...... The concept of private with Facebook is at best variable and yet another reason to stay away from it.

I have a Facebook account but I don't use it. I was trying to find a couple of friends from school in California. Located both on google and both were on Facebook but when I clicked on there accounts it wouldn't let me do it unless I signed up. So I signed up, mission accomplished and I post nothing in my account. The down side. The email address I used is flooded with mail every day. I set up the email account for that purpose.

You can make twitter private. It's counter productive to the average narcissist.

OK. News to me:
All the Elements on the Periodic Table of Elements were brought to Earth by comets.

NOVA: Treasures of the Earth: Metals. (S43 E19)

 example: Gold was not made on (native to) Earth. It's creation needs the heat at the center of a sun and Super Nova.

If you were told those things you have been lied to. You also seem to misunderstand some basic concepts.

I typed those statements while I was watching the NOVA show, right in front of me, and typed the info directly onto this thread as I was watching. I thought I quoted accurately, which is why I included the Season and Episode designations. Please, feel more than welcome to correct me.

It is not you Murph, it is the show you are reporting on that needs correction.

All the Elements on the Periodic Table of Elements were brought to Earth by comets.

That is so wrong. Twenty four elements on the Periodic Table were created by man. They do not exist in comets.

Gold was not made on (native to) Earth. Its creation needs the heat at the center of a sun and Super Nova.

Gold was not made on Earth but it is native to Earth. The Sun is a Population I, or heavy-element-rich, star. The heavy elements in the Sun, Earth, and asteroids, such as gold and uranium, were plausibly produced by endothermic nuclear reactions during a supernova, or by transmutation through neutron absorption within a massive second-generation star. The gas and dust from these sources could be the source of heavy elements in our solar system.

Gold has been found in a couple of meteorites but meteorites or comets are not the prime sources of gold on the Earth.

Nice. I had a feeling posting that information, which amazed me when I heard it, would elicit a conversation, and I was hoping for something from you, of course. Thanks for your input, indeed, Wayne.

I must be out of date - I'm not getting quite that high a number.

And, while they were created here by man, I'm not sure that that some might exist transiently in very old stars.
