OK. Thank You, again, Rufus. I'll do so, regarding the pneumonia and shingles (hadn't thought of that, but do know I had Chickenpox as a kid).

I figured that since I am increasingly active throughout the parish and have taken-on tutoring a 9th Grader, privately, in his home, after he returns from school, that the chances of being exposed to myriad germs are pretty likely, as opposed to just sticking around my house (something I have never been good at). Life is Life to me when I am involved with others.

People with flu are most contagious in the first three to four days after their illness begins. Most healthy adults may be able to infect others beginning 1 day before symptoms develop and up to 5 to 7 days after becoming sick.

When I know the flu is going around my area I do my best to limit my contact with other people.

Very little of anything is free here and if it is, you probably don't want it either.

Getting the shot is a good idea but you really should practice protocols to prevent exposure in the first place. Wash your hands religiously and keep a personal bottle of hand sanitizer with you when you go out and may not be able to get to a rest room. KEEP YOUR HAND AWAY FROM YOUR FACE, particularly the nose and the eyes.

When I had to deal with large numbers of students in lab spaces during flu season I would sometime where nitrile gloves and a surgical mask. I think it was two years ago that the vaccine was less than 30% effective. I had the shot and then I got really sick because I broke protocol working on fixing device drives loaded on the computers in an instructional lab. I was tired and I took off my glasses to rub my eyes. There was a wash sink in the lab but I just got careless for a few minutes and then I got really, really, really sick for about 10 days.

No, I do not. My episodes with the flu are so mild, I see no reason to mess with an immune system that works so well.

I'm always trying not to be a face-toucher, but it's an old habit I still try to break. I carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer in my pocket, usually, but your advice here will inspire me to be more vigilant about that, too.

Each of my vehicles has a large bottle of sanitizer in the door storage feature for when I return to the car after being social. That I make use of 100% of the time .

Algae, mostly, aka simple aquatic life forms. At various points in the planets past there were vast shallow seas that were choked with the stuff.

There have been test runs where the effluent from a coal fired plant was bubbled into water where blue green algae were bred. The algae was harvested and then pressed to produce bio diesel. The remaining material was then used as fodder for yeast to produce ethanol.
