Interesting! I put the auction on because the loco was scratch built and nicely (opinion) done, and didn't really look at the bids. Just went there and counted and I get about 100 bids, though it states 156 as Rufus mentioned. Total figure seems to be kinda low considering the number of bids! Auction is in pounds! Something doesn't apear to be quite koshur!

When you pull up the bid history, there are only 100 bids shown. I'm guessing that is the max that field can handle and a new bid pushes the lowest bid into the ozone, and the top 100 remain.

I saw that the seller was from the UK....what I meant by not koshur is, the US dollar figure seemed low for that quantity of bids in pounds, considering ever rising bid increments. I don't know the exchange rate these days, but it looked a little hinky.

I thought the number of bids was more than a little weird too.
I do like the model too but was somewhat puzzled by that rather poorly applied light over the smoke box, opinion but didn't look consistent quality- wise with the rest of the model's appearance, nor with what I thought I knew about those consolidation era steamers.

Interesting model though for sure, thanks for sharing.

That is really odd because most (if not all) English steamers did not have headlights. They did have three class lights, one on each end of the pilot above the buffers and one located on the top of the smokebox door (visible on the model just below the headlight).

Actually four positions, left, centre, and right on the pilot beam and the fourth was centre top of the smokebox front.

The model is of the Lickey Banker, an 0-10-0 of the LMS (originally Midland Railway). It spent its life pushing trains up the Lickey Incline in Worcestershire.

The light is not a headlight in the American sense, but a spotlight used to approach the rear of a train at night with some semblance of knowing where the back of the brakevan was in the dark.

The model looks to be missing the face of the buffer beam and the buffers, but otherwise looks like something worth working with. What did in the buffers might have knocked the spotlight a bit, but no great showstopper.
