Yes, they do look somewhat like early steam locomotives, but they are from a later time, when steam traction engines were common. With their top-mounted engines and flywheels, they should make interesting models.

This shot of a Hornby model shows one of it's color schemes:

And that blue looks most particular, too, doesn't it, like a very special blend of a number of special shades and colors. Really very nice.

I always thought the "Russian" 2-10-0 was sharp, in a gawky sort of way:

Less muscle than the WM H-9/H-9a Consolidations, but this mini-Decapod must have been a hoot to see.

The PRR 2-10-0 Decapods, a favorite of mine, were huge machines but were not proportioned as nicely as the "Russian" Decs.
Only my opinion of course.

The Pennsylvania I-1s was a beast, but the WM I-2 was even bigger...they dwarfed the Russians.

According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_locomotive_class_Ye,

"Overall, no less than 2,047 Russian decapods were built for the Soviet Union between 1944 and 1947."

The Russian Decs in America were WWI vintage - 200 of them got hung up in the US following the revolution in 1917. The USRA distributed them to various US railroads based on perceived need.

Yes, I know. But, they were built again, with some changes, for WWII. See the Wikipedia article I posted a link to.
