Yes, most if not all of these people have powerful friends and many are mere puppets. Has anyone ever gone to DC, as an elected official and retired with less $$$ than when they went?

Actually, yes. Some in Congress right now are in the red - tells you a lot right there about the quality of people that get elected - how are they supposed to the run the country when they cannot manage their own personal budgets

The Dems are no better or worst than the Reps, they just do a better job of fooling poor people.

I'd argue it might be the exact reverse. Might look at a correlation between ave. income and color of state. Last I looked at this it said nothing good about Reps.

Are you saying it is bad to have higher income than to have lower income?
Are you saying that the color of state, democrat or republican, is determined by the income level of that state?

Higher is a relative term. Roughly 1/2 the country has an income ~ $45-50K. About 10% are at levels that are hard to really appreciate or conceive of w/o hiring a room full of accountants. The rest are in an odd location range. Just about all below that 10% group are on their own despite all assertions to the contrary.

In the meantime, it's not income; it's what % you get to keep.

There is a correlation. Cause and effect is open to debate and argument. Probably could break that down further, but why bother.

The population of the US is more concentrated on the east and west cost and the north where manufacturing is more prevalent. High paying jobs. It has been said that the middle sates are the breadbasket of the country. Not as much monetary value in that product. But the cost of living in much cheaper. A lot of it depends on what a person places value on.

There is also the factor of what you are getting for your money, either directly from the taxes in terms of government services, or indirectly form the spin offs/perks that my be in accompaniment (i.e. effects on transportation, education, health care).

The fatigue hitting influencers as Instagram evolves
https://www.bbc.com/worklife/article/20 ... am-evolves

Her newfound Insta-fame quickly earned her a ride on a “beautiful, mysterious train, making a really, really impressive amount of money” as an influencer, she says. But four years later, the train had sputtered to a halt, leaving her scrambling financially.

“Market saturation happened,” she says. “People started noticing how lucrative doing that kind of work was, and so there became this new goal of becoming the influencer.” Brands weren’t paying as much because people would work for less – or even for free. “I had to lower my day rate. I had to work twice as hard for twice as less,” she says.

Twice as less? Is that Britt speak for half as much?

I think we have several of the influencer types even in our hobby.
Some don't even play with trains but are trying to influence the ones that do.
