As a side note, I think I bought or traded with Sarge for mine. Someone mentioned that this flatcar might actually have had steel decking instead of wood. Maybe Sarge might chime in if he knows.

Jon, that's one I did, yes. It was a PRR F34. The deck was steel with keyed holes in it for chain tie-downs with dogs on the ends, no wood.

There is a "C. G. Davis" penciled on the underside. I bought the car (ebay) from "oldguyfromnj" about a year or so ago and I knew the car's builder, Carvey G. Davis, he was a noted Baltimore trolley enthusiast and O scaler. This car also has a steel deck. Note, I think that it would look better with a wood deck, though. Mine is tuscan and lettered ERIE 7214 and has Auel Bettendorf trucks. I am not sure yet if they are insulated as I need to put the trusty Simpson 270 on them; Carvey was a member of the B. S. M. E., an outside third rail club at that time.

I have (somewhere) an Athearn HO version of this car that is black and lettered ERIE 8086; the Athearn car has the couplers mounted on the span bolster instead of body-mounted as on our O scale cars. Years ago in Fort Lauderdale, I saw one of these prototype cars parked on a siding (got a photo or two; now lost) and duly noted that the coupler was span bolster-mounted. Athearn got it right! Odd, I have the distinct impression that it, too, was lettered for ERIE.

Edit: Carvey usually dated his stuff when he completed his work, odd that he did not date this one; I have a few other cars that he did date.
